Job summary

AMSC is seeking a Senior Manager, Technical Accounting & Integration to support the global accounting organization with a focus on technical accounting, acquisitions, integration activities, and strategic accounting initiatives.

The role partners with Corporate Accounting, Finance, Legal, Operations, and leadership to evaluate complex accounting matters and lead the financial integration of acquired businesses.

Qualifications

• Strong technical accounting foundation with ability to research and apply US GAAP to complex transactions.
• Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, financial due diligence, and post-acquisition integration is preferred.
• Ability to partner cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, IT, Operations, and leadership.
• Experience in a public company and SOX-controlled environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting and finance integration activities for acquisitions, including due diligence, purchase accounting, and post-close integration.
• Partner with Finance, Legal, Operations, IT, and leadership across transactions and integration efforts.
• Support evaluation of acquisitions from an accounting perspective, reviewing financial information and risks.
• Contribute to SOX control environment and establish accounting processes for new entities.
• Work with acquired businesses to align practices with AMSC policies and reporting.
• Provide guidance on revenue recognition, inventory, reserves, and other technical areas.
• Coordinate with external auditors on technical accounting and integration matters.
• Prepare technical accounting documentation and position papers as needed.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and disclosures.
• Travel 25-50% domestically and internationally to support acquisitions and integration.

Job description

The Senior Manager, Technical Accounting & Integration will play a key role in supporting AMSC's global accounting organization, with a particular focus on technical accounting, acquisitions, integration activities, and strategic accounting initiatives. This position will partner closely with Corporate Accounting, Finance, Legal, Operations, and business leadership to evaluate complex accounting matters, support transactions, and lead the financial integration of acquired businesses.

The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting and technical foundation combined with a desire to work across a broad range of projects and business activities. This role offers significant exposure to acquisitions and integration efforts, global operations, and senior leadership and is well suited for someone who enjoys moving between technical analysis and hands-on business execution.

Functions:

• Lead accounting and finance integration activities for acquisitions, including financial due diligence support, purchase accounting, opening balance sheet activities, accounting process alignment, controls, systems, and post-close integration.
• Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Operations, IT, and business leadership throughout transaction and integration activities.
• Support the evaluation of potential acquisitions and other transactions from an accounting and financial perspective, including review and analysis of financial information, accounting practices, risks, and integration considerations.
• Support the company's SOX control environment and help establish appropriate accounting processes and controls as new businesses and operations are integrated.
• Partner with acquired businesses to understand existing accounting practices, identify gaps, and transition processes to AMSC accounting policies, controls, systems, and reporting requirements.
• Support accounting systems and process improvement initiatives, particularly those related to acquisition integration, scalability, and continued company growth.
• Work directly with external advisors, auditors, and other third parties on technical accounting, transaction, and integration matters as needed.
• Research and evaluate complex technical accounting matters and provide recommendations in accordance with U.S. GAAP, including preparation of technical accounting documentation and position papers.
• Provide technical accounting guidance across areas including revenue recognition, inventory, reserves, contract accounting, acquisitions, and other complex or judgmental matters.
• Support the global accounting organization with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting activities and review financial results for unusual activity, accounting issues, or areas requiring further analysis.
• Participate in SEC reporting activities and support the preparation and review of financial statement disclosures.
• Lead and support special projects and strategic accounting initiatives based on evolving business needs.
• Manage, mentor, and develop accounting team members as appropriate.
• Travel domestically and internationally approximately 25-50% to support acquisitions, integration activities, and global business needs.

Education - Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting, transaction advisory, accounting advisory, public accounting, or related corporate finance experience.
• Experience with technical accounting and the application of U.S. GAAP required.
• Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, financial due diligence, transaction accounting, or post-acquisition integration strongly preferred.
• Experience working with complex, global, or multi-entity organizations preferred.
• Public accounting, accounting advisory, or transaction advisory experience preferred.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex accounting matters clearly to both accounting and non-accounting audiences.

• Experience with Oracle ERP or other large enterprise financial systems preferred.
• Experience working within a public company and SOX-controlled environment preferred.
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 25-50%.
