Job summary

Campaign Legal Center in Washington, DC seeks a Senior Manager, Communications to lead the communications team and shape the narrative on voting rights, redistricting, campaign finance, ethics, rule of law and structural reform.

You will mentor Communications Associates, partner with program staff to translate complex legal concepts into compelling blogs, press releases, pitches, letters to the editors and newsletters, and ensure a consistent brand voice across platforms.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of experience in communications, content strategy, or journalism.
• Experience managing staff with cross-team projects.
• Solid understanding of democracy issues (voting rights, redistricting, ethics, rule of law).
• Excellent verbal and written communication, translating legal concepts for diverse audiences.
• Strategic thinking with ability to lead communications in a fast-paced, nonpartisan environment.

Responsibilities

• Mentor communications staff and oversee Communications Associates.
• Partner with programs on voting rights, redistricting, rule of law, ethics and campaign finance to craft content.
• Translate complex legal concepts into blogs, press releases, pitches, letters to the editors and newsletters.
• Craft content with a consistent brand voice across platforms and audiences.
• Collaborate with Senior Manager, Media Relations and team to align earned media strategies.
• Plan and lead rapid response for breaking news related to structural reform.
