Job summary

Democracy Forward Foundation, based in Washington, DC, is seeking attorneys to advance pro-democracy policies through high-stakes litigation and regulatory engagement. The ideal candidates will handle federal/state litigation, participate in the regulatory process, develop clients and coalitions, and mentor junior staff while promoting inclusion.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active DC bar membership or eligibility for admission in DC.
• Strong writing and research abilities with experience in litigation or regulatory advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Litigation: lead or co-counsel in federal and state courts, advise clients on strategy, manage filings and proceedings.
• Client development and coalition management: build relationships with partners to advance legal work.
• Agency advocacy: represent clients before federal agencies in rulemaking and hearings.
• Draft memos, filings, comments, and other advocacy materials, including petitions and letters.
• Monitor policy issues to identify opportunities for litigation or regulatory engagement.
• Mentor junior staff and foster an inclusive workplace culture.
