Job summary

Salesforce, Inc. is seeking a remote Senior Manager in San Francisco to lead the Reliability Engineering team overseeing the multi-cloud compute platform.

You’ll keep Kubernetes, service mesh, Ingress Gateway, and identity services secure and highly available across 1,000+ clusters on AWS, Alibaba Cloud, and Google Cloud. You’ll build a culture of ownership, define the tech vision, collaborate with architects and product leaders, and guide engineers to deliver AI-enabled, secure, scalable

Qualifications

• You have 10+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years leading engineering teams.
• Hands-on depth in Kubernetes, service mesh, networking (DNS, TLS, HTTP proxies), and a major public cloud.
• You use AI development tools hands-on and can judge architecture and quality of AI-generated output.
• You assess candidates on prompts, AI outputs, and orchestrate multi-agent workflows, in addition to core technical skills.
• A related technical degree is required.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing:

• Lead, coach, and grow a team of platform engineers, building a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Set the technical vision and roadmap for the next generation of Service Mesh and Identity, and keep the platform reliable, observable, and self-healing at fleet scale.
• Partner with architects, product owners, and engineering leaders to deliver features and spot issues before they affect customers.
• Develop each engineer’s ability to work in an AI-augmented environment, own how AI tools fit into the team’s daily development cycle, and guard architectural integrity, security, and technical standards as AI-generated code increases.

You’re Our Person If:

• You have 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing engineering teams, with hands‑on depth in Kubernetes, service mesh, networking (DNS, TLS, HTTP proxies), and a major public cloud.
• You use AI development tools hands‑on, and you have the technical depth to judge the architecture and quality of AI-generated output.
• You assess candidates on their ability to write effective prompts, evaluate AI outputs, and orchestrate multi‑agent workflows, in addition to core technical skills.
• A related technical degree required.

Even Better If:

• You have programming experience in Go or Python.
• You have used infrastructure-as-code and delivery tools such as Terraform and Argo.
• You have used observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or Elasticsearch.
• You have experience building AI multi‑agent or retrieval‑augmented generation systems, or leading open‑source contribution strategy.

In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $207,800 - $285,800 annually.The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
