Responsibilities

Job Purpose

As the Senior Manager of Settlements, you are a key member of the Controller’s organization providing strategic Back Office support for Pattern Energy’s energy management activities and commercial revenue arrangements for our fleet of renewable energy projects. Pattern Energy is on an accelerated growth path, and this role is essential to ensure the settlements function is scaled to support the business in achieving its objectives.

You will also play a critical role in the Back Office functions necessary for transmission line operations. In working with the Enterprise Technology team, you will oversee initiatives for the selection and implementation of system applications used in settlement, invoicing, and reporting of energy contractual arrangements.

Key Accountabilities

• Oversee a team responsible for:
• Analysis and settlement of transactions in multiple power markets and futures exchanges in the US and Canada, including CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, SPP, AESO, IESO, ICE/NGX
• Analysis and settlement of transactions under short and long-term transmission service agreements and Energy Imbalance Markets (EIM)
• Analysis and invoicing of counterparties under various contractual arrangements, including over 35 long-term power agreements, renewable energy credits, capacity/resource adequacy, and other revenue arrangements.
• Evaluation of commercial power and other contractual revenue arrangements with existing or potential counterparties.

Other Key Accountabilities

• Establish a Back Office function supporting settlement, invoicing, and regulatory reporting related to transmission line operations.
• Manage the support in selecting and implementing a bid-to-bill application for settlement of transmission service agreements and complex calculations related to commercial power arrangements.
• Support execution of management initiatives and other activities as needed.

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

• Bachelor's degree in business, economics, math, or related field
• 15+ years of experience with power market settlements and transmission settlements in the electric utility or renewable energy industry.
• At least 6-8 years in a leadership role with strategic thinking capabilities.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex market data.
• Experience with deal capture and bid-to-bill settlement systems.
