The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience, ranging from $125,766 - $172,929.

Job Summary

The Manager of Quality (Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Systems) is responsible for safety, health, environment, and quality across multiple groups within the Projects business area (Electric and Gas) in New York, Maine, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

This role coordinates SHEQ activities across disciplines (gas, electric, resiliency, interconnections, customer funded projects, etc.), ensuring compliance with quality processes and safety requirements.

It maintains ISO9001 and ISO14001 certifications and ensures the safety of contractors on job sites.

The lead manager oversees embedded contractors within Quality, Environmental, and Safety, optimizing work within the group. The role acts as a liaison and provides technical advice to senior management to improve and align quality and environmental management systems, with safety as a priority, aiming for best-in-class standards and continuous improvement.

This position requires in-depth knowledge of standards, safety rules, and regulations to ensure compliance and maintain ISO certifications. It involves annual audit coordination and leadership, holding contractors accountable for performance and results.

It supervises internal employees and embedded contractors, supporting quality and safety compliance and system standardization across all OpCo’s.

This role reports to the Sr Director of Technical Services within the Projects Department and collaborates with various departments to ensure a consistent approach to SHEQ systems.

Responsibilities
  • Provide vision, strategy, and expertise to drive quality management principles, maintaining ISO 9001 and 14000 certifications annually.
  • Monitor, update, and automate SOPs for quality and environmental programs; manage compliance and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate safety within Projects, ensuring OSHA standards and procedures are followed.
  • Develop and implement health and safety initiatives in compliance with laws and standards.
  • Conduct site inspections and safety audits on active projects to ensure compliance.
  • Manage activities of teams in Maine, New York, and Connecticut, including resource allocation and relationship management with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support project teams in safety, health, quality, and environmental performance; coordinate audits.
  • Set and measure team goals, align with organizational standards, and oversee work quality.
  • Develop and manage the Projects safety program to meet corporate goals.
  • Interpret and administer company policies and procedures.
  • Determine resource needs, develop budgets, and oversee their execution.
  • Attend executive meetings, providing updates on SHEQ activities.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree with 15+ years relevant experience and/or
  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years relevant experience in energy, regulatory, project management, safety, or quality industries.
  • QMS ISO 9001 and/or EMS ISO 14000 and OSHA Certification training required.
  • Expertise in Safety, Quality assurance, and Environmental processes (QMS, EMS, ISO 9000, ISO 14000, OSHA).
