The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience, ranging from $125,766 - $172,929.

Job Summary

The Manager of Quality (Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Systems) is responsible for the safety, health, environment and quality for multiple groups within the Projects business area (Electric and Gas) located in New York, Maine, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

This role will coordinate the SHEQ activities in different disciplines (gas, electric, resiliency, interconnections, customer funded projects, etc…) ensuring compliance with the Quality process and Safety requirements.

It is responsible to the continuance of the ISO9001 and ISO14001 certifications as well as keeping the multitude of contractors on job sites safe.

The lead manager is instrumental in the oversight of embedded contractors within Quality, Environmental and Safety to optimize the work within the group. In addition, the role acts as liaison and provides technical advice to senior management and other business areas to improve and align better with the quality and environmental management systems, ensuring safety is first and moving towards best in class and making every day better.

This position requires in-depth knowledge of the Standards as well as safety rules and regulations to act as the face of the company to accurately determine compliance obligations that may affect operations and construction activities and compromise adherence to the process and controls put in place to maintain the ISO certifications. Annual coordination and leadership expertise is critical to the audit effort and preparation activity. This position will hold be responsible for holding the embedded contractors accountable for performance and results.

The position has direct supervision and authorization/assignment of work tasks for the internal employees and embedded contractors to support quality and safety compliance, and system process standardization across all OpCo’s.

This position reports to AVANGRID’s Sr Director of Technical Services within the Projects Department. The Manager of Quality will coordinate with numerous departments across the organization, ensuring consistent approach with SHEQ Quality Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Must provide vision, strategy, and technical expertise to drive the completion, integration, and application of quality management principles, techniques and projects, through ensuring maintenance of the ISO 9001 and 14000 certifications each year.
  • Continuous monitoring, updating and automating standard operating procedures for both quality and environmental programs. Manage and ensure compliance to all standard operating procedures for safety, quality and environmental focused on continuous improvement. Develop, implement and manage corrective actions due to performance issues or internal and external audit findings.
  • Coordinate Safety within the Projects organization ensuring internal teams and contractors follow OSHA standard and procedures.
  • Develop and implement health and safety initiatives striving for conformance by all internal and external team members related to laws, regulations, standards, and compliance.
  • Conduct site inspections and safety audits on active capital projects to drive compliance to all processes and procedures as outlined in the EH&S SOP’s.
  • For its area of responsibility, demonstrates leadership in the organization. Manages activities of team members located in Maine, New York and/or Connecticut by managing resource requirements, priorities, work execution and internal/external resource requirements. Also manages relationships and interdependency with other internal departments, contractors, consultants, attorneys, utilities, regulatory agencies, government agencies, and major customers.
  • Support project team members related to safety, health, quality and environmental performance of internal employees and contractors. Coordinates with Process and Technologies Department regularly scheduled internal and external audits on all projects.
  • Sets and measures team goals. Sets strategic direction aligning with Projects Global Reference Model, Project Management Office and Quality and Environmental Management System methodology and undertakes action plans, program management and team assignments for the compliance and accomplishment of goals. Ensures quality of work packages of team.
  • Develop, implement and manage Projects safety program and ensure the program is followed within the Projects business area, meeting all AVANGRID Networks corporate goals.
  • Interprets and administers company policies and procedures.
  • Determine resources needed within business area. Develops and controls teams operating and capital budget.
  • Attendance to Executive management meetings, providing and presenting updates on Safety, EMS and QMS related activities.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience Required:

  • Associate degree with 15+ years relevant experience and/or
  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience in the energy industry and/or regulatory industry, project management, quality and/or safety industries.
  • QMS ISO 9001 and/or EMS ISO 14000 and/or OSHA Certification training required.
  • Subject matter expert in Safety, Quality assurance and Environmental processes (QMS, EMS, ISO 9000, ISO 14000 and OSHAS), and implementation within project structure.
