Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Manager of Product Quality Engineering who will lead a team delivering high-quality, reliable products for Intelligence Systems. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Test, and Supply Chain, driving PDP implementation from prototype to production.

You will own RCCA, CAPA, supplier quality programs, and quality control processes, while guiding teams to meet stringent performance criteria and readiness for scale.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical Engineering discipline.
  • 10+ combined years in engineering disciplines related to product quality/engineering.
  • Experience with design review and quality management of PCBA, harnessing, mechanical structures, and systems integration.
  • Knowledge of FMEA, APQP, MSA/GR&R, SPC, and GD&T.
  • Experience with test/measurement system development and manufacturing variance testing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of product quality engineers to define, develop, and execute processes for high quality, reliable products.
  • Partner with Production, Engineering, Program Management, deployments, sourcing, and design partners.
  • Drive continuous improvement and risk management across development and production phases.
  • Own supplier quality engineering programs and supplier qualification activities.
  • Lead RCCA, NCRs, CAPA, and MRB processes and ensure lessons learned are shared.

About The Team

Altius 700+, as part of Tactical Reconnaissance & Strike (TRS) team, is focused on positioning Anduril as a lead provider of specialized engineering and products for Loitering Munitions and ISR customers. We work within the TRS to understand their requirements, shape their concepts of operation, and deliver exquisite capability across their problem set. We aim to develop and deploy critically needed capabilities that address our customers’ most pressing national security requirements.

About The Job

As the Senior Manager of Product Quality Engineering Manager you will lead a team of product quality engineers and quality specialists who will work inside & outside the organization to define, develop, and execute processes that deliver high quality & reliable products. Your leadership will impact how Anduril delivers production quality and sustaining support for a portfolio of products that support Intelligence Systems. You will build partnerships with heads of production, manufacturing engineering, program management, deployments, sourcing and multiple engineering teams. The right person for this role has knowledge of manufacturing, product development, sub-system performance criteria and metrology, and leadership experience to contribute to Anduril's mission.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop close collaboration with Product, Engineering, Test, and Supply Chain leadership teams and execute to Product Development Process (PDP) to meet all gate readiness review criteria (CDR, BRR, MRR/PRR) engaging from early prototype testing to full rate production.
  • Be the voice and leader for product development, production quality, supplier quality, and all the functions that contribute to an efficient and effective NPI/production process and delivery of product to Anduril customers.
  • Lead & manage a team to champion continuous improvement and failure mode elimination in the development & production phases, driving part and system level quality readiness for production scaling, and supporting customer / deployment quality issues.
  • Own and utilize Supplier Quality Engineering resources to own and track supplier quality control and development program for the product(s) as well as supplier part qualification and risk management programs
  • Own and lead Quality Control process, frame work, and execution starting from detailed engineering requirements and risks all the way to managing inspection methods and tooling by collaborating with systems design partners and providing leadership and prioritization to quality control teams
  • Set daily and weekly priorities for the quality teams and establish culture of best-in-class product quality by driving the adoption and consistent use of quality tools and processes.
  • Drive production readiness by detailed design reviews, process development, verification/validation, and qualification of processes and parts, sub-assembly, and system deployments
  • Drive clarity & resolution for performance ambiguities associated with product maturity, process stability, and field performance that impact the product meeting it’s quality & reliability goals for production.
  • Drive ongoing quality performance for incoming quality control, in-process quality control, and end of line quality.
  • Own the elimination of product risk to by reducing process contribution to quality & reliability across the product lifecycle.
  • Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), Non-Conformance Reviews (NCRs), Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA), and Material Review Board (MRB) activities. Review the effectiveness of actions and share lessons learned across the product team.
  • Own and lead cross functional alignment of within Corrective Action Board (CAB) activities to drive ownership to investigations and resolutions of quality issues regarding design, integration, process, and supply chain
  • Lead product health data analysis and improvement activities. Establish metrics for measuring quality and the factors that predict quality performance. Drive performance when out of goal/out of specification conditions occur.
  • Support the continuous improvement of the Quality Management System needed to support the process and product. Define and improve required documentation and activities
  • Develop strategies and resource plans with heads of production, program management, deployments, sourcing and chief engineers & architects to meet customer & product requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in a technical Engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience leading organizations including teams of direct report engineers to address NPI and production execution and quality issues that impact delivery or product quality at our customer
  • Minimum total of 10+ combined years of experience working in technical/engineering disciplines related to product quality/engineering as an individual contributor engineer or working engineering manager
  • Working knowledge of design review and quality management of PCBA, harnessing, mechanical structures, systems integration, power/battery systems, radar, vision system/optical image capture, networking/communication protocol, and remote management systems.
  • Experience driving product quality and performance requirements to test and measurement system development and optimization. Leading the transition from engineering qualification to manufacturing variance testing for product quality coverage.
  • Working knowledge of product development methodologies such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Inspection & measurement systems, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) elements such as Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility (GR&R), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Working knowledge of precision mechanicals, composites, motors, and/or PCBA and Cable harnessing manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and drive clarity for technical drawings, requirements, Quality Clauses, and SOWs used to describe quality requirements
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing Execution systems, Configuration Management and Document Control/Data Management
  • An extreme ownership mindset with demonstrated capability to drive projects from start to completion.
  • Analytical skills and experiences for data mining, data quality, metrics generation, issue management systems, and statistical analysis tools (MatLab, JMP, MiniTab, etc)
  • Eligible to obtain and/or maintain an active U.S. Secret clearance (clearance not required to start)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in a technical engineering discipline
  • Contractual knowledge in ITAR and EAR applications regarding product technicalities
  • Experience in design/integration/test of sensors/cameras/gimbals
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, and developing a team of engineers and specialists.
  • 8+ years of experience with developing quality systems for high volume, high complexity manufacturing environments.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100/ ISO 9001-based Quality Management System requirements.
  • Experience with IPC standards, mastery of ESD and FOD prevention and mitigation programs.
  • Experience with government contracts and military standard requirements.
  • Experience with Teamcenter/PLM, Oracle, Warehouse management, Non-Conformance management systems, and Altassian work stream tools
US Salary Range

$146,000—$194,000 USD
