Job summary

NFL is seeking a Senior Manager, Player Engagement to support players and Heads of Player Engagement across education, financial empowerment, personal and professional development, and HPE development. You will guide education strategy, train presenters, and drive initiatives for player success.

The role supervises programs, family initiatives, and the annual meeting, working with a cluster of eight club HPEs. Requires a Bachelor’s and 7+ years in sports, with on-site work in New York.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience in professional sports or college athletics/student-athlete support.
  • Must work from the NFL League office in New York, 5 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Offer support in the five pillars of Player Engagement, working closely with clubs Heads of Player Engagement to ensure comprehensive player support.
  • Oversee player mandatory education, devise the strategy, assist with curriculum development, and implement changes that align with player needs.
  • Train presenters, including Legends and League staff, on player mandatory education.
  • Develop strategy for continuing education, drive participation, verify degrees, and lead educational webinars.
  • Direct all aspects of the Paul J. Tagliabue NFL Academic Excellence Award, coordinating nominations and recognition.
  • Lead off-season programs and workshops for players focusing on post-NFL career exploration.
  • Manage NFL Family Programming, including creation, implementation, and evaluation of programs and resources.
  • Respond to club HPEs and players inquiries, ensuring timely support.
  • Plan and coordinate the Player Engagement Annual Meeting.
  • Lead invoices and contracts for the department.

Job description

The Senior Manager, Player Engagement is responsible for serving, equipping and empowering NFL players and Club Heads of Player Engagement (HPE) within the five Player Engagement pillars (continuing education, financial empowerment, personal and professional development and HPE development). The Senior Manager supports a cluster of 8 club HPEs and serves as the lead for player mandatory education per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. In addition, the role will lead/support multiple Player Engagement initiatives and programs.

Responsibilities
  • Offer support in the five pillars of Player Engagement, working closely with clubs Heads of Player Engagement to ensure comprehensive player support
  • Oversee player mandatory education, devise the strategy, assist with the development of evergreen content/curriculum, lead internal collaboration & communication within the league office, and implement changes that align with player needs
  • Train presenters, including Legends and League staff, on player mandatory education
  • Develop the strategy for the continuing education pillar, drive participation, conduct degree verifications, and lead educational webinars
  • Direct all aspects of the Paul J. Tagliabue NFL Academic Excellence Award, coordinating nominations, committee engagement, and recipient recognition
  • Lead and facilitate off-season programs and workshops for players that focus on post NFL experience career exploration
  • Responsible for leading NFL Family Programming efforts, including the creation, implementation, and evaluation of programs, resources, and services that support the holistic development of NFL players and their families
  • Manage and respond to club HPEs, players, NFL Legend inquiries, ensuring that support and resources are provided
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of the Player Engagement Annual Meeting
  • Serve as the department lead for invoices and contracts
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience in professional sports or college athletics/student-athlete support
  • Must work from the NFL League office in New York, 5 days per week

Salary / Pay Range

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

Travel
  • As needed; travel consists of visiting NFL clubs, onsite for Player Engagement Workshops, meetings, initiatives, NFL tent pole events, etc.
Terms / Expected Hours of Work
  • 40 hours a week with additional hours (nights and weekends) as needed
Salary

$100,000—$130,000 USD
