Job summary

Walmart Global Tech is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead the execution and evolution of large-scale payment platforms across multiple teams. You’ll own delivery, architecture, and strategy for highly available distributed systems, driving cloud-native engineering, DevOps, automation, and observability to ensure scale, security, and compliance in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Proven engineering leadership delivering large-scale, highly available distributed platforms in payments/fintech/retail environments.
• Strong understanding of the payment lifecycle: authorization, capture, settlement, reconciliation, and exception handling.
• Experience with payment routing, gateways, processors, issuers, card networks, tokenization, and PCI DSS.
• Deep knowledge of cloud-native architecture, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, DevOps, CI/CD, observability.

Responsibilities

• Lead platform-level execution for highly available distributed payment systems aligned with business priorities and roadmap milestones.
• Design architecture for payment processing, routing, authorization, retries, reversals, fallback, and resiliency.
• Oversee cloud infrastructure, shared tooling, DevOps, CI/CD, automation, telemetry, and production readiness across teams.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, security, operations, and payment stakeholders to deliver complex initiatives while meeting compliance and certification requirements.
• Guide architectural decisions for scalability, fault tolerance, performance, security, and cost optimization.
• Mentor engineers, strengthen technical ownership, drive operational improvements, and establish metrics for availability and platform health.
