Job summary

Kraft Heinz, Chicago, is seeking a Senior Manager, Packaging Sustainability to lead NA packaging sustainability and EPR work, translating global priorities into regional plans and partnerships that advance regulatory readiness and long-term value creation.

You will collaborate with NAZ Packaging Procurement, R&D, Finance, Legal, and Sustainability teams to deliver practical delivery plans, manage data foundations, and build tools to track milestones, risks, and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, finance, business, sustainability, engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience across procurement, sustainability, supply chain, packaging, compliance, or project management.
  • Strong knowledge of Extended Producer Responsibility, packaging compliance, circular packaging principles, recyclability requirements, and packaging data management.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical procurement and packaging actions.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proven project and program management capabilities with multi-workstream coordination.
  • Effective influencer across functions, business units, and supplier or partner relationships.
  • Stakeholder management with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead packaging sustainability and EPR work for the North American zone in alignment with Kraft Heinz’s global sustainability strategy, commitments, and governance.
  • Translate global packaging sustainability priorities into actionable regional plans, roadmaps, and cross-functional execution, and partner with NAZ Packaging Procurement, R&D, and Sustainability teams to refine goals and convert ambition into practical delivery plans that support packaging commitments and net-zero objectives.
  • Identify, prioritize, and advance packaging-related initiatives with key North American suppliers, including scope, timing, deliverables, cost implications, and expected impact.
  • Strengthen supplier collaboration models and ways of working to accelerate progress across packaging sustainability and procurement priorities.
  • Support management and improvement of North America carbon data foundations in partnership with the Global Sustainability team, including supplier data collection and reporting tools.
  • Build and maintain tools, processes, and tracking mechanisms to provide visibility to milestones, decisions, risks, and accountabilities across the North America sustainability roadmap.
  • Lead EPR readiness and compliance activities for packaging across relevant North American jurisdictions, including policy monitoring, applicability assessments, registration support, reporting requirements, fee forecasting, and coordination with producer responsibility organizations, as applicable.
  • Partner with Legal, Regulatory, Government Affairs, Finance, R&D, Operations, Procurement, and Sustainability teams to translate evolving EPR requirements into packaging strategies, supplier expectations, commercial decisions, and governance processes.

Senior Manager, Packaging Sustainability at a glance...

You will be a part of the Global Sustainability organization and lead packaging sustainability and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) work with a primary focus on the North American zone (U.S. and Canada). You will translate global sustainability priorities into regional plans, programs, and partnerships that advance Kraft Heinz’s packaging commitments, regulatory readiness, and long-term value creation.

Recipe for Success
  • I have a bachelor’s degree in supply chain, finance, business, sustainability, engineering, or a related field (equivalent relevant experience will also be considered).

  • I have over 6 years of experience across procurement, sustainability, supply chain, packaging, compliance, or project management, including meaningful experience leading cross-functional sustainability or packaging initiatives

  • I have strong knowledge of Extended Producer Responsibility, packaging compliance, circular packaging principles, recyclability requirements, and packaging data management. I have working knowledge of sourcing lifecycle processes and the tools required to support execution.

  • I have demonstrated ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical procurement, supplier, packaging design, and business actions.

  • I have strong written, verbal, analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex sustainability topics clearly to internal stakeholders and external partners.

  • I have proven project and program management capabilities, including multi-workstream coordination, business case development, and data-driven decision-making. I have experience developing longer-term plans and translating them into execution roadmaps, governance, and measurable outcomes.

  • I am an effective influencer with demonstrated success working across functions, business units, and supplier or partner relationships

  • I have proven stakeholder management skills, including experience building alignment with senior leaders and cross-functional teams

Location: Chicago (hybrid) with moderate travel to customer locations, stores, manufacturing facilities, and other business sites.

New Hire Base Salary Range:

$120,800.00 - $151,000.00

Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.

The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
