Job summary

JPMorganChase seeks a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to mentor multiple teams within Global Finance Technology. You will provide technical coaching, set direction on AI-assisted development, and drive SDLC enhancements across the organization.

You will influence budgets, architecture, and delivery quality while ensuring secure, scalable enterprise solutions using Java, Spring, REST, and modern frontend stacks. This role demands leadership across large teams and external collaboration.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts plus 5+ years applied experience; 2+ years leading technologists.
• 10+ years of building enterprise-grade software products.
• Expertise in Java, Spring Core, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and JPA.
• Expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, React and UI testing frameworks.
• Proficiency in Object-Oriented Design and Test Driven Development; hands-on with Junit, Mockito, Playwright, Cucumber.
• Strong understanding of security standards (OAuth, TLS, Kerberos).
• Familiarity with ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics, and Splunk.
• Proficiency with Agentic AI coding tools (Copilot, Claude, Windsurf, Gemini).
• Experience with Kafka and other AMQP frameworks.
• Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines using Git, Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers.
• Accountable for decisions influencing resources, budget, and execution of processes.
• Set and scale operating practices for AI-assisted engineering and SDLC/TLM automation.
• Drive adoption and governance of enterprise AI-assisted engineering across teams with measurable standards.
• Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge to drive efficiency and capacity unlock initiatives.
• Lead evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams on architectural designs and applicability.
• Ensure collaboration across teams and stakeholders; escalate issues as needed.
• Collaborate with end users and product teams to align technical deliverables.
• Provide budget/input on approach and technical considerations to improve efficiency.
• Lead communities of practice to promote new technologies.

As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Global Finance Technology, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.

Job responsibilities:

• Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks
• Accountable for decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
• Sets and scales operating practices for enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering and SDLC/TLM automation across multiple teams to improve delivery speed, quality, and operational outcomes; establishes measurable expectations (e.g., throughput, defect reduction, reliability) and ensures consistent validation, security, resiliency, and reuse of proven patterns.
• Drives adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness, incident/root-cause analysis), while establishing measurable validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of proven patterns and automation within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to drive efficiency and support capacity unlock initiatives across teams, prioritizing reuse of existing firm technology assets.
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
• Ensures successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders
• Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary
• Collaborate with end users and product teams to ensure timely alignment of technical deliverables.
• Provides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. In addition, 2 + years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
• 10+ Years of building enterprise grade software products
• Expertise in Java, Spring Core, Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA (OR) Python and relevant microservices framework.
• Expertise in JavaScript, Typescript, React and popular test framework for UI
• Proficiency in Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and Test Driven Development (TTD), with hands-on experience in test automation frameworks like Junit, Mockito, Playwright and Cucumber.
• Strong understanding of security standards such as OAuth, TLS, and Kerberos.
• Familiarity with log/metric collection and monitoring technologies like ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics, and Splunk.
• Proficiency in using Agentic AI Coding assistance such as Copilot, Claude, Windsurf, Gemini.
• Experience with event-driven processing using Kafka, and other AMQP framework.
• Hands-on experience with building CI/CD pipelines using Git, Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Fortify.
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

• Agile software development experience adhering to a product operating model.
• Experience in building enterprise solution focused on Data Analytics will be beneficial
• Experience in Finance Reporting will be beneficial
• Experience in building cloud-native web applications.
