Position Summary

HANA's Senior Manager of Development is a key member of HANA's leadership team. The Senior Manager provides deep understanding and experience in fundraising campaigns, donor engagement strategies, and effective communications to ensure HANA has the resources necessary to support its programs and organizing campaigns. The Senior Manager works in close coordination with HANA's Executive Director to develop and execute annual fundraising and communications plans to clearly communicate HANA's mission and impact, engage stakeholders, and grow support. A successful Senior Manager provides strategic thinking and critical support, thus enabling the organization to meet its mission and build the power of the community.

Major Responsibilities
  • Directly supervise and regularly provide guidance for development and communications staff and interns
  • Co-develop, implement, and evaluate an institutional and individual donor cultivation strategy with the Executive Director
  • Lead institutional fundraising including grant research, prospecting, proposal writing, and reporting
  • Develop and grow an individual donor strategy, including gift recognition programs
  • Cultivate and build relationships with institutional and individual donors
  • Lead fundraising events including HANA's annual MODU Gala, end of the year holiday donations, and other donor stewardship and cultivation events
  • Support Communications Manager to develop, implement, and evaluate an annual communications plan
  • Supervise external communications including social media, paid and earned media, e-blasts, direct mail, and additional ways to increase public awareness about HANA and grow HANA's base and membership
  • Work closely with HANA's Team Leads and Senior Management Team to collect information for proposals and reports
  • Oversee and manage fundraising database and tracking systems, ensuring data entry is accurate and comprehensive
  • Attend and participate in community meetings and other activities as needed
  • Speak publicly on behalf of HANA as needed
  • Participate in and complete all required trainings
  • Other duties as assigned
Key Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights and social, racial, and economic justice
  • A belief in communities' ability to support each other, organize, and achieve desired goals together
  • Preferred experience working with community-based organizations, especially those focused on issues related to Korean American, Asian American, immigrant communities and/or social, economic, and racial justice
  • At least 4 years of relevant professional experience required, including 2+ years of management experience, preferably in a non-profit organization, foundation, or government setting
  • Exceptional people management skills with at least 2 years of experience supervising staff; proven ability to set goals, delegate responsibilities, and manage staff performance, train and develop cross-functional teams, coach and inspire the leadership capacity of team members, and foster a healthy organizational culture with a sense of community and pride
  • Innovative approach, strategic thinking, solution-oriented and analytical problem-solving skills; ability to adapt as needed, self-manage, and prioritize between and manage multiple demands
  • Exceptional communicator and ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in a wide range of organizational, partnership, and public settings; demonstrated strength in managing and resolving conflict
  • Excellence designing and leading high stakes, fast-paced projects to completion; ability to replicate, expand, and deepen the impact of organizational initiatives
  • Prior experience with EveryAction or comparable donor management software
  • Proficiency in using design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite is an asset
  • Valid driver's license, access to a car, and ability to travel to both HANA offices and for events as needed
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel and participate in national campaigns, convenings, and conferences
  • Bilingual in Korean, both verbal and written, is an asset

Compensation

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $65,000-$80,000 and benefits that include paid leave, paid sick leave, health, dental, vision, short-term disability, long-term disability, life, and 401K.
