Job description

InStride Health’s mission is to deliver specialty anxiety and OCD care that works for every kid, teen, young adult, and family who needs it. Through this mission, we are expanding access to insurance-based care, increasing engagement in treatment, and improving treatment outcomes. We are doing this by combining research-backed clinical care and innovative technology to eliminate the major problems with care today: difficulty finding providers, months of waiting to be seen, arduous onboarding processes, and inconsistent use of evidence-based therapies and outcomes tracking. Our vision is to become the nation’s most trusted provider of pediatric anxiety and OCD care.

TeamInStride Health: Our Core Values

  • Give Heart: We lead with heart, treating patients and their families the way we want our loved ones to be treated.
  • Work Smart: We find smarter ways to solve hard problems and fix the broken mental health system by leveraging technology, diversity of thought, and innovation.
  • Have Humility: We leave our egos at the door, empowering our team to collaborate, celebrate diversity, and adopt a growth mindset.
  • Embrace Community: We all belong. We are in this together, and we never worry alone. We believe in each other and recognize that every voice matters.
About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Manager of Data to lead our data engineering and data science efforts, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality data pipelines and actionable insights while shaping our overarching data strategy. This role will work closely with stakeholders across the business to understand data needs, align on priorities, and maintain strong, reliable data flows and predictive models.

The Senior Manager of Data will lead and mentor a growing team of data engineers and data scientists, ensuring that the team's efforts drive impactful and business-aligned data solutions. This is a hands-on leadership role, and the Senior Manager will remain directly involved in the team's technical work alongside setting strategy.

This is a fully remote position.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage, mentor, and grow a multi-disciplinary team of data engineers and data scientists, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
  • Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines, data architecture, and data science models that ensure consistent, high-quality, and timely data availability.
  • Partner closely with the Analytics team to design data models and infrastructure that enable them to build impactful, scalable business insights in Looker.
  • Actively consult on upstream data changes proposed by product engineering teams, working closely with the Product team to scope how new features will impact downstream data models and analytics.
  • Define and evolve the core data warehousing architecture strategy using Snowflake to seamlessly support data science and product use cases.
  • Lead the development and enforcement of data quality standards, robust data governance, and rigorous security/compliance practices.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the data team and other departments, gathering requirements, prioritizing requests, and providing status updates to keep stakeholders informed and aligned.
  • Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for data engineering and data science in alignment with business goals.
  • Identify and evaluate new data sources and data science opportunities that can provide additional value to the business, overseeing their integration into our data ecosystem.
  • Roll up your sleeves and contribute to the data engineering and data science codebases, especially on high-impact projects. Collaborate with team members to solve complex technical challenges.
What You Need to Succeed in the Role
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, or data architecture roles, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or management capacity. Healthcare or insurance industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience with modern data integration tools, ETL/ELT frameworks, and cloud data platforms (experience with AWS, Snowflake, and Matillion or dbt are a plus).
  • 3+ years of experience with data visualization and BI tools such as Looker.
  • Experience managing and collaborating with Data Science teams, with an understanding of machine learning models and statistical analysis.
  • Familiarity with leveraging modern AI workflows and coding assistants to streamline data pipelines, scripting, and code generation.
  • Deep understanding of data pipeline architectures, dimensional data modeling, and ELT best practices.
  • Proficiency with SQL and Python.
  • Experience with data quality management, automated testing frameworks, and continuous observability tools.
  • Familiarity with data governance principles, zero-trust security models, and compliance standards (experience with healthcare data and HIPAA/PHI is strongly preferred).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and to drive alignment on data initiatives.

The expected annual salary for this role is between $162,000 and $180,000. Actual starting salary will be determined on an individualized basis and will be based on several factors including but not limited to specific skill set, work experience, etc.
