Job summary

Liberty Utilities in Londonderry, NH, is seeking a Senior Manager to lead Metering & Customer Technology Integration. You will oversee AMI platforms, metering networks, and data flow into SAP billing and regulatory systems, aligning IT with regulatory priorities.

You will lead a cross-functional team, manage vendors, and drive improvements in data quality and system performance to safeguard revenue integrity and customer trust.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Extensive experience with utility AMI systems, smart meters, metering networks, and related middleware/ software platforms.
  • Experience managing IT teams, vendor resources, or cross-functional technical teams in a utility environment.
  • Strong understanding of utility metering processes, billing systems (SAP IS-U), and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex technology projects in utilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of technical resources for AMI and metering networks.
  • Manage internal and external resources, ensuring high-quality delivery.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to develop team capabilities.
  • Ensure secure, timely transmission of usage data into SAP systems.
  • Oversee AMI infrastructure, metering network, middleware, and software platforms.
  • Monitor KPIs for network reliability and data accuracy; implement corrective actions.
  • Scope and oversee metering-related technology initiatives, upgrades, and integrations.
  • Drive continuous improvement to optimize metering performance and efficiency.
  • Identify risks/dependencies and coordinate with teams to resolve them.
  • Lead developers to deliver enhancements and fixes for metering platforms.
  • Ensure metering changes are tested and validated by the business.
  • Oversee L2/L3 support and coordinate with Helpdesk for L1 incidents.
  • Collaborate with regulatory teams to ensure compliance.

Purpose

The Senior Manager, Metering & Customer Technology integration acts as the liaison between the Customer function, Metering function, and IT, ensuring that metering platforms and related processes are reliable, compliant, and continuously improved. This role is responsible for scoping metering-related technology initiatives, leading development and support teams, and ensuring accurate and timely data flow into billing and regulatory systems.

This role aligns IT solutions with operational and regulatory priorities, safeguarding revenue integrity, improving customer trust, and ensuring compliance with utility industry standards. This role provides leadership and direction for a team of technical resources responsible for managing and improving the utility’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), metering network, hardware, middleware, and all components required to capture usage and feed data into SAP.

Accountabilities
  • Lead a team of technical resources responsible for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of AMI and metering networks, including hardware, middleware, and software components.
  • Manage internal and external resources, including vendors and service providers, ensuring alignment, accountability, and high-quality delivery.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to develop team capabilities and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Ensure accurate, secure, and timely transmission of usage data into SAP billing and regulatory systems.
  • Oversee the management and performance of the utility’s AMI infrastructure, metering network, and associated middleware and software platforms.
  • Monitor KPIs and metrics for metering network reliability, data accuracy, and system performance, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Scope, plan, and oversee metering-related technology initiatives, including system enhancements, integrations, and upgrades.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize metering performance, data quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify risks, issues, and dependencies related to metering systems and work with teams to resolve them proactively.
  • Lead team of developers to deliver enhancements, upgrades, and fixes for metering platforms.
  • Ensure metering-related changes are tested, validated, and quality-assured by the business.
  • Oversee L2/L3 support for metering systems, coordinating with Helpdesk for L1 incidents.
  • Ensure metering applications meet reliability, accuracy, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Monitor risks and manage dependencies in collaboration with IT Operations, Finance, and Enterprise Architecture.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory teams, to ensure compliance with industry standards and utility regulations.
  • Maintain transparent communication with stakeholders regarding system performance, project status, and escalated issues.
Education and Experience
  • University - Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field;

  • Experience managing IT teams, vendor resources, or cross-functional technical teams in a utility environment.
  • Strong understanding of utility metering processes, billing systems (SAP IS-U), and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex technology projects in utilities, particularly those that integrate metering data into billing and operational systems.
  • Knowledge of metering data standards, telemetry protocols, and security/compliance requirements.
    Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across business, IT, and operational functions.
Compensation Data

Full base salary range $130,000.00- $180,000.00 per year*Liberty considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education, training and skills, and geographic location.
