Job summary
S&C Electric Company is hiring a Senior Manager-Manufacturing Training & Capability Development to lead strategy, design and execution of training programs across manufacturing operations.
The role ensures frontline leaders, technicians and engineers have the skills, safety knowledge and leadership needed to meet quality and compliance standards. It oversees the Manufacturing Training Center and partners with Operations, Quality, Engineering and HR to align priorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Organizational Development or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing training or technical development roles.
- 7+ years of leading teams in a manufacturing environment in a process/manufacturing/operations role.
- Understanding of adult learning concepts with the ability to translate operational requirements into structured learning programs.
- Knowledge and experience with Lean and Six Sigma Management Systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive manufacturing training strategy aligned with operational goals; establish a roadmap focused on standardized work and technical skills.
- Oversee the design and execution of technical training for new hires based on standardized work used by production.
- Apply performance data, training metrics and quality feedback to evaluate and improve training programs; focus on measurable performance and root-cause analysis.
- Lead end-to-end Manufacturing Training Center operations; schedule programs, plan resources, ensure readiness and trainer assignment; enforce curriculum standards.
- Monitor industry trends and technologies; incorporate relevant advancements into training approaches.
- Recruit, develop and coach internal trainers to deliver standard work.
- Collaborate with production, engineering and quality teams to align training with operational needs.
- Incorporate quality lessons and standard work updates into training materials; drive continuous improvement.

The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $154,968 - $205,332.6. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

The Senior Manager-Manufacturing Training & Capability leads the strategy, design and execution of training programs that build capability across manufacturing operations. This role ensures frontlines leaders, technicians, engineers and production teams have the technical skills, safety knowledge, and leadership capability required to meet operational quality and compliance standards. This role is responsible for leading and managing the Manufacturing Training Center operation; partnering closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering and HR to align training and business priorities.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive manufacturing training strategy aligned with operational goals. Establish and maintain a multi-year capability, building a roadmap focused on standardized work, technical skills (welding, fabrication, assembly, painting, injection molding, wiring/electrical assembly, machining) and continuous improvement culture.
- Oversee the design and execution of technical training (welding, fabrication, assembly, painting, injection molding, wiring/electrical assembly, machining) for new hires based on identified standardized work utilized by production.
- Apply operator performance data, training metrics, and quality feedback to evaluate and improve technical training programs; focus on measurable performance and root cause analysis.
- Lead and manage the end-to-end operations, ensuring it functions as a high-performance learning hub. Oversee daily technical training center activities, including program scheduling, resource planning, equipment need identification and readiness, and trainer assignment to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery. Establish and enforce standards for curriculum development, instructional quality and learning effectiveness. Drive continuous improvement of training center operations by reviewing performance metrics, learner feedback, and quality data to identify gaps and implement enhancements. Ensure the training center remains compliance with all safety, regulatory and company requirements while fostering a culture of technical excellence and learning.

- Integrate quality lessons learned, standardized work updates and abnormality responses into technical training materials.
- Provide strong leadership and direction to direct reports, and contributors, setting clear performance expectations and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence. Conduct regular performance assessments, provide constructive feedback and facilitate career development opportunities to support individual growth and organizational succession planning.
- Provide though leadership and best-practice direction to the Manufacturing Training team, ensuring the development and execution of training goals that contribute towards the large goals of S&C.
- Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

- Knowledge and experience with continuous improvement tools from Lean and Six Sigma Management Systems.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, safety regulations and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement technical programs.
- Great interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills, (written, verbal and listening and presentation) able to partner with and communicate with customers, both technical and non-technical.
- Great organizational, planning and project management skills, coordinating internal and external resources and juggling key account demands.
- Sound business sense and analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed actions, solve complex problems and drive learning.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, including the flexibility to work extended hours when necessary.
- Great computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Power BI. Including great data analysis skills.
- Lean/Kaizen Facilitator Certification
- Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD)
- Instructional Design/Adult Learning Certification
- Master's Degree in Business, Engineering, Organizational Development or a related field.
Frequently required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based tasks.
Frequently required to walk moderate distances across the S&C campus.
Occasionally required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate office productivity equipment.
