Job description

Salary: USD180000 - USD225000 per year

The Senior Manager of Lateral Partner Integration will work under the supervision of the Director of Partner Recruiting and Integration and will have primary responsibility for leading and driving the successful integration of lateral partners. This role partners closely with Practice Leadership, Office Managing Members (OMMs), Sponsors, Business Development (BD), Practice Management (PM), and other firm departments to ensure each lateral partner is fully integrated into the firm’s culture, operations, client service platform, and business development ecosystem.

This position is part of the firm’s Legal Recruiting Department and therefore will also be involved in firm-wide legal recruiting activities and initiatives to support attorneys throughout the firm.

Key Responsibilities:
Integration Program Management and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Manage a comprehensive integration experience for lateral partners from onboarding and continuing through the first two years of practice at the firm.
  • Partner with Practice Leadership, Sponsors, OMMs, Business Development, and Practice Management to identify individualized priorities and success metrics for each lateral partner.
  • Maintain accountability for all integration activities, ensuring stakeholders remain aligned and engaged throughout the integration process.
  • Maintain feedback loops with key stakeholders to coordinate efforts, promote accountability, and ensure execution of integration strategies.
  • Travel to Mintz offices regularly to support partner integration initiatives and stakeholder engagement in person.
Integration Plan Development and Management
  • Working with Legal Recruiting Specialists, develop comprehensive integration plans for each lateral partner including clearly defined goals, milestones, timelines, success metrics, relationship-building priorities, business development objectives, and integration activities.
  • Work with lateral partners daily to drive execution of all priorities identified in the integration plans. Monitor completion of planned activities and proactively address obstacles that may impact successful integration.
  • Continuously update and adapt integration plans based on feedback, progress, changing business needs, and emerging opportunities.
Planning and Facilitating Lateral Integration Meetings
  • Manage each lateral partner’s integration meeting schedule, ensuring meaningful engagement with key stakeholders, practice groups, industry teams, and firm leadership.
  • Participate in integration meetings across offices and departments. Lead productive discussions focused on relationship building, cross-selling opportunities, client development strategies, market positioning, and practice integration.
  • Ensure follow-through on action items identified in integration meetings.
  • Continue to identify and engage additional connections as opportunities emerge throughout the integration process.
Lateral Partner Support and Continued Engagement
  • Build relationships with lateral partners. Serve as their primary point of contact and strategic advisor throughout their integration.
  • Provide intensive, hands-on support during the partner’s initial onboarding period, including daily engagement to ensure a seamless transition into the firm.
  • Conduct regular check-ins focused on progress on goals, relationship development, business development opportunities, operational challenges, and overall experience within the firm.
  • Oversee Legal Recruiting Specialists in handling administrative matters and logistics for laterals within their first few weeks at the firm.
Orientation and Onboarding
  • Oversee onboarding and orientation for laterals, collaborating with Legal Recruiting Specialists to coordinate and facilitate introductions to key firm departments and to create, maintain, and update a comprehensive Lateral Partner Integration Guide outlining critical firm policies, procedures, systems, expectations, and best practices.
  • Work with departmental leaders to tailor orientation content to each lateral partner’s specific practice needs and business objectives.
  • Revisit key concepts periodically to ensure each lateral has a complete and enduring understanding of firm policies, procedures, firm structure, and available resources.
Formal Integration Reviews & Reporting
  • Prepare comprehensive integration reports analyzing progress at key milestones, including 3-month, 6-month, 12-month, and 24-month intervals for the Director of Partner Recruiting and Integration.
  • Communicate regularly with Director and core lateral team, proactively raising any issues that need immediate attention.
Data Analysis & Strategic Insights
  • Collaborate with Legal Recruiting Specialists to collect and analyze internal success data and market intelligence. Offer actionable insights that may inform future recruiting and integration strategies.
  • Collaborate with departmental leads to compile and report on key success indicators for lateral cohorts and integration activities.
Process Improvement & Program Development
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, stakeholder engagement, communication, and overall integration effectiveness.
  • Standardize integration workflows while maintaining flexibility to accommodate individual partner needs.
  • Evaluate and improve lateral integration processes, tools, and resources.

This role requires 60% in office presence. Remote work is permissible 40% of the time.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; JD or MBA degree will be considered favorably.
  • 6+ years’ experience in professional services, legal services, talent integration, partner programs, business development, practice management, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, cross-functional initiatives involving senior stakeholders.
  • Highly proactive approach to coordinating complex initiatives.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and execution skills.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and drive accountability across diverse stakeholder groups, managing up, down, and to peers across the firm.
