    Your Role: Provides strategic direction and develops long-range plans for a major organizational area. Ensures controls, standards, and objectives are in place for earnings, finances, product quality, performance management (including job classification, employee leveling, salary planning, and market competitiveness), operational efficiencies, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.)

    Your work:

    Auto Product Development and Management

    • Leads, through subordinate managers and professionals, overall product portfolio and product life cycles for a division or business unit.

    • Provides thought leadership to product development efforts with high value or high potential products.

    • Develops methodology and initiates changes to policies and guidelines which affect work, schedules, and budgets.

    • Through subordinate staff, manages all related guidelines and protocols.

    • Reviews competitive environment and understands market dynamics for multiple products, states, and or markets.

    • Leads sophisticated or strategic product development or improvement activities.

    • Develops new products based on knowledge of products, consumers and competition

    • Partners closely with IT to ensure no missed requirements and operational excellence for initiatives going to market

    • Leads division or enterprise wide projects.

    Profit/loss responsibility at highest operations level

    • Establishes and assures adherence to budgets.

    • Establishes operational objectives for the most sophisticated, the highest value, high growth and/or high potential value products.

    • Acts as resource and expert on core technical aspects of a line of business and/or the tools and techniques of Product Management

    Strategic Innovation and Growth

    • Provides strategic organizational direction and develops long-range plans that impact a major area of the organization/company.

    • Provides consulting and recommendations to senior management for future products.

    • May Interact directly with the highest levels of management in the company including the board of directors

    • Leads cross-functional partners and support teams towards business goals

    • Develops acquisition and retention strategies to achieve business goals.

    Market Execution

    • Develops, modifies and implements policies and procedures.

    • Develops and maintains product specification documentation that can be consumed by IT and transformed into formal business requirements

    • Makes final decisions on administrative, strategic or operational matters and ensures effective achievement of objectives

    • Establishes operational objectives, work plans, delegates assignments and holds staff accountable for performance results

    • Approves pricing structure and changes.

    Leadership

    • Provides mentorship and leadership to staff.

    • Responsible for hiring decisions, performance planning (e.g. Individual Development Plan); approves salary actions, Enterprise Incentive Plan recommendations for staff; performance management, including approving involuntary termination.

    • Provides ongoing coaching, feedback and mentoring for product management team(s) under their direction.

    • Develops high performing individuals and a high performance organization.

    Required Experience, Education and Skills

    • Bachelor's degree in related area (Marketing, business, or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    • 8+ years of increasingly responsible product management experience

    • 3 – 5 years’ Experience leading Product Management Teams

    • Extensive knowledge of product and project management, product profitability, sales and strategic planning

    • Excellent leadership skills. Able to lead product management teams to greater efficiency and creativity.

    • Skilled coach and mentor. Excellent ability to attract, develop and retain highly skilled, high performing product managers.

    • Excellent strategic, organizational and problem-solving skills

    • Proficiency in product analysis, principles and methods.

    • Excellent business and technical writing skills (e.g.. proposals, PowerPoint presentation, business requirements, Microsoft project, Suite Microsoft Office)

    • Excellent project management techniques and processes. Highly skilled negotiator

    • Excellent communication, presentation, and persuasion skills of internal and external partners and stakeholders.

    • Excellent understanding business systems and processes and how they link together

    • Extensive knowledge of telematics and best practices in auto rating segmentation

    • Experience working in agile development environments

    • Advance degree, ACAS (Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society) and FCAS (Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society) credentials, and/or Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter, or related insurance designations

    • Creates a collaborative, inclusive and psychologically safe environment, demonstrating authenticity and fostering trust to inspire and empower team members and colleagues

    The national average salary range for this position is $160,000-$177,000. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $144,000-$213,000. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 20% of eligible pay.
