BDO USA is seeking a Senior Manager in its Nonprofit & Grantmaker Advisory practice to support organizations and funders with financial and operational excellence. You will lead engagements, manage client relationships, and guide teams across projects in nonprofit settings.

The role emphasizes strategic analysis, grant compliance, and effective communication with diverse audiences, with up to 10% travel and virtual collaboration with clients nationwide.

Qualifications

• Twelve (12) or more years of experience in nonprofit organizations or government entities, required
• Twelve (12) or more years demonstrated experience in a financial management and/or operational capacity in increasingly complex organizations and roles, preferred
• Experience with accounting systems and nonprofit accounting principles, preferred
• Prior supervisory/management experience, preferred

Responsibilities

• Supports organizations in organizational transition in financial management or operations and making sound financial and operational decisions
• Provides senior level financial management or operations services, which may include month end reviews, audit management, budget development, financial planning, financial system implementation, and operations team support
• Supports client leadership teams in making strategic decisions including presenting analysis and findings and effectively communicating complicated information to a variety of audiences
• Oversees grant compliance and restricted funding requirements for an organization
• Analyses current processes, systems, and procedures and makes recommendations to ensure best practices and keeps abreast of changing regulatory environments
• Develops and maintains current and potential/new client relationships, serving as a key contact for small to mid-size nonprofit organizations
• Leads client engagement team through means of training, guidance, and coaching
• Supports client delivery teams in ad-hoc projects that support Client Service Delivery
• Travels up to 10% of the time

This is a unique opportunity for a mission-oriented entrepreneurial nonprofit professional who wants to leverage their nonprofit expertise to work with clients both locally and virtually. This role will have a sporadic and fluctuating work schedule.The Nonprofit & Grantmaker Advisory team is a growth-oriented management consulting team dedicated to building the capacity of the nonprofit sector. We partner with our nonprofit and philanthropic clients to help them attain operational excellence, ensure financial sustainability, and effectively achieve their desired impact. Our collaborative approach includes client input and involvement at each stage of an engagement.

Job Duties:

Client Service Delivery

• Supports organizations in organizational transition in financial management or operations and making sound financial and operational decisions
• Provides senior level financial management or operations services, which may include month end reviews, audit management, budget development, financial planning, financial system implementation, and operations team support
• Supports client leadership teams in making strategic decisions including presenting analysis and findings and effectively communicating complicated information to a variety of audiences
• Assists in complying with new nonprofit financial reporting and disclosure standards
• Conducts fiscal infrastructure assessments and provides insight into organizational financial sustainability
• Oversees grant compliance and restricted funding requirements for an organization
• Analyzes current processes, systems, and procedures and makes recommendations to ensure best practices and keeps abreast of changing regulatory environments

Relationship Management

• Develops and maintains current and potential/new client relationships, serving as a key contact for small to mid-size nonprofit organizations
• Leads client engagement team through means of training, guidance, and coaching
• Supports client delivery teams in ad-hoc projects that support Client Service Delivery
• Travels up to 10% of the time

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $80.00/hr - $150.00/hr

NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $80.00/hr - $150.00/hr
