Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager, Industrial Engineering to lead facility layouts, labor standards, staffing and efficiency analyses across our warehouse network.

You will identify cost-saving opportunities and support operational implementations to keep GXO at the forefront of supply chain excellence. The role requires building teams, developing standards and collaborating with IT to define equipment needs and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in a warehouse, distribution, or 3PL environment.
• Experience with WMS and LMS systems.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma and project leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of facility layouts, labor standards, staffing and efficiency analyses.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and support operational implementations.
• Hire, train and mentor industrial engineering staff.
• Develop labor standards, process flows and job descriptions for operations.
• Conduct time studies to estimate staffing and production standards.
• Document processes to enable startups and on-going operations.
• Collaborate with IT to define equipment requirements and automation where justified.
• Analyze costs and compare to prior estimates.
• Identify storage and picking strategies based on activity levels.

As the Senior Manager, Industrial Engineering, you will lead the development of facility layouts and designs, labor standards, staffing and efficiency analyses, and identify cost‑saving opportunities while supporting operational implementations.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Hire, train and develop industrial engineering staff; provide technical support and direction to site industrial engineers and managers
• Develop labor standards, process flow diagrams and job descriptions for new and existing operations
• Conduct time study analyses to estimate facility staffing requirements and establish production standards
• Identify, evaluate and implement productivity improvements
• Document processes to facilitate operational startups and provide on‑site support as required
• Convert contract documents and SOWs into work instructions and operating procedures
• Analyze ongoing costs and compare them to prior cost and pricing estimates
• Select appropriate models for receiving, put‑away, picking and packing solutions
• Identify storage and picking strategies based on product dimensions and activity levels
• Identify facility design requirements based on activity levels, product envelopes, product flow, transportation methods, building layout and power requirements
• Specify material handling and storage equipment solutions, including automation where justified
• Collaborate with IT resources to develop equipment requirements based on activity levels

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work or military experience
• 5+ years of experience working in a warehouse, distribution or 3PL environment
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
• Experience with Labor Management Systems (LMS)
• Project management experience, including leading projects from concept through completion
• Experience with Lean Methodology and AutoCAD
• Familiarity with Six Sigma practices and principles

It’d be great if you also have:

• Advanced degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field
• 7 years of industrial engineering experience in a distribution environment
• 2 years of supervisory or management experience
• SQL experience
