Every individual is empowered to take ownership and make a meaningful impact. We strive for efficient and effective operations, and we hold each other accountable for delivering exceptional results.

Here, you will find more than just a job—you will find purpose and pride.

Your role at Baxter

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Global Tax Accounting to play a key leadership role within Baxter's Global Tax organization. This individual will combine deep technical tax accounting expertise with strong people leadership, helping guide the team's day-to-day operations while serving as a strategic partner to Finance leadership across the organization.

The Senior Manager will be responsible for leading the preparation and review of projections and quarterly/year-end reporting of the global corporate income tax provision, uncertain tax positions, and effective tax rate under U.S. GAAP (ASC 740). In addition, this individual will develop and mentor team members, drive process improvements and reporting efficiencies, and leverage tax accounting data and analytics to generate insights that add value to the broader tax function.

This is more than a traditional tax provision role. As a key partner to the Director of Global Tax Accounting, this individual will help lead the Global Tax Accounting function while supporting strategic initiatives, significant transactions, tax rate analyses, and quarterly reporting activities. The role offers regular interaction with senior Finance leadership, including the Controller and CFO organizations, and requires close collaboration with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Legal, and global tax teams around the world.

The team is currently undergoing a global transformation focused on improving efficiency, strengthening risk management, and modernizing processes. This creates a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys driving change, developing talent, and helping shape the future direction of a high-visibility function. Beyond ensuring accurate and compliant reporting, this person will be expected to think strategically, challenge existing processes, and contribute to key business decisions across the organization.

This is a hybrid onsite position based out of Deerfield, IL.

What you'll be doing
  • Manage the preparation and review of projections and quarterly/year-end reporting of the global corporate income tax provision, uncertain tax positions, and effective tax rate under US GAAP (ASC 740).
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of tax accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Support team engagement and development, and key initiatives aligned with the strategic vision of the tax department.
  • Collaborate with Global Tax colleagues in the areas of tax compliance, planning, and controversy to evaluate tax accounting considerations and ensure appropriate ASC 740 treatment of relevant tax matters.
  • Analyze and interpret complex tax data, leveraging automation and analytics tools to identify trends, improve reporting processes, and provide actionable insights to the tax and finance organizations.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Finance, Accounting, Corporate Legal, and external advisors and auditors to support tax accounting objectives and reporting requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance, support, and review oversight on tax accounting matters, including SOX-related controls, process documentation, and other internal control activities.
  • Assist in identifying training and development opportunities to ensure team members maintain the technical knowledge and skills necessary to perform their roles effectively.
  • Monitor changes in US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and tax laws and regulations, and assess the impact of those changes on the company's income tax accounting and reporting positions.
What you'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; Master's degree in Accounting or Tax preferred.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • 6-8+ years of experience in tax, with at least 3-4 years in tax accounting-focused roles, including experience managing tax provision processes and supervising team members.
  • Strong knowledge of tax accounting software and systems, including OneSource Tax Provision software (OTP), FCCS, and ERP systems/data access.
  • Experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading software (e.g., Power Query) a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with Finance leadership, Corporate Legal, tax colleagues, and external auditors.
