Job summary

Dow Jones & Company, Inc. in New York, NY seeks a Senior Manager, FP&A to oversee consolidation of financial results and lead the close process. You will partner with operating FP&A leaders, accounting, tax, and systems teams to ensure integrity and transparency in reporting, while coaching one direct report.

The role reports to the VP, FP&A and requires a willingness to work in Midtown Manhattan three days per week.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant commercial finance experience.
  • Proficiency with Excel (advanced functions) and Google Docs, Sheets, Slides.
  • Experience maintaining accounting records and preparing financial reports.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting preferred.
  • SAP and TM1 experience preferred.
  • Planning and organizational skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee consolidation and creation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly results and forecasts for management presentations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submissions to News Corp.
  • Lead the budget and long-range plan process to drive revenue growth and cost efficiency.
  • Summarize revenue and cost drivers and trends for senior management.
  • Maintain routine financial reports and conduct variance analyses.
  • Manage month-end close with focus on revenue and cost analysis.
  • Collaborate with corporate functions and partnerships teams.
  • Handle ad-hoc requests and projects as needed.
  • Share best practices with FP&A colleagues to ensure cohesive operations.

Senior Manager, FP&A

About the Role

The Finance team is looking for a Senior Manager, FP&A in its consolidations group.

As Senior Manager, you will aid in overseeing the timely and accurate consolidation of financial results across the company. You will work on a team driving the close process, support strategic decision-making with high-quality reporting, and partner with operating FP&A leaders, accounting, tax, and systems leads to ensure integrity and transparency in financial reporting.

Additionally, you will manage, develop, and coach one direct report with the aim of delivering our team and business objectives.

Reporting to the VP, FP&A, you will work in our Midtown Manhattan office 3 days a week.

You Will
  • Work on the consolidation and creation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly results and forecasts into management level presentations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submissions to our parent company (News Corp).
  • Lead the budget and long range plan process to drive revenue growth and cost efficiency.
  • Summarize the revenue and cost drivers and trends for senior management.
  • Maintain routine financial performance reports and conduct variance and trending analyses to monitor and explain performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • Manage month-end close processes with a primary focus on revenue and cost analysis.
  • Partner and oversee corporate functions as well as partnerships team.
  • Handle ad-hoc requests and projects as needed to meet financial or business demands.
  • Collaborate with FP&A colleagues to share best practices and ensure cohesive team operation.
You Have
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant commercial finance experience
  • High degree of proficiency with financial applications and reporting tools, specifically Microsoft Excel (can perform complex functions) and Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • Experience maintaining accounting records and preparing financial reports
  • Experience recognizing problems, collecting data, drawing valid conclusions and defining/suggesting resolutions
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills
  • A Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting (preferred)
  • SAP and TM1 financial systems experience (preferred)
  • Planning and organizational skills including effective time management and attention to detail
  • A strong work ethic, initiative, drive, and teamwork mentality with experience effectively working under pressure
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of business partner
  • The willingness to work in our Midtown Manhattan office 3 days each week

Base Pay Range: $130,000 - $145,000
