CarMax Auto Finance seeks a Sr. Manager of Accounting to oversee cyclical accounting processes, prepare journal entries and reconciliations, and support SEC reporting.

You will lead the CAF team, coordinate with Home Office Accounting, Treasury, and other CAF departments, and guide external audit activities. The role requires CPA, a bachelor’s in accounting/finance, and 5+ years of accounting experience with 3+ years in leadership, plus exposure to SEC reporting.

Qualifications

• CPA required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance required.
• Five years of general accounting experience in public accounting and/or corporate accounting or financial reporting.
• Three or more years of experience leading teams, including supervising direct reports.
• Exposure to SEC reporting requirements and previous experience preparing and/or analyzing financial statements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cyclical accounting processes: general ledger closes, journal entries, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Review CAF Financial Accounting Team work: entries, reconciliations, quarterly analyses.
• Partner with Home Office Accounting, Treasury/External Vendor Relationship, Loss Forecasting and CAF departments for data support.
• Lead external audit processes: client-prepared schedules, quarterly reviews, SOX 404 testing and process documentation.
• Analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvements to business areas.
• Lead special projects: new accounting standards and system implementations/maintenance.
• Select, lead and engage a team of salaried associates performing accounting, reconciliation and reporting functions.
