Grafana Labs is a remote-first, open-source company with global reach. We support more than 20M users of Grafana, the open source visualization tool, and work with hundreds of companies to manage observability with Grafana Cloud or the Grafana Enterprise Stack. We value an open-source legacy, a global collaborative culture, and meaningful work.

You may not meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If this role excites you, we’d love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity.

The Opportunity:

Senior Manager of Field Engineering

You will be responsible for building and managing a team of Field Engineers. The Field Engineering team serves as solution SMEs for Grafana, accelerating and enabling the technical win. You will oversee global GTM execution with sales counterparts, focusing on acquiring new customers and building tools to accelerate the path to the technical win. You will coach and grow a diverse team, work with Solutions Engineering to maintain a comprehensive Demo environment, collaborate with Marketing to drive top-of-funnel programs, and partner with Product Management and Engineering to ensure customer value and influence the roadmap based on field feedback and Observability/customer ecosystem experience. Your impact will be global when the job is done well.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Attract, recruit, ramp, and mentor a team of Field Engineers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Provide individual coaching to maximize team performance.
  • Balance workload across account engagement, project development, maintenance, engineering engagement, competitive intelligence, conferences, and enablement.
  • Plan and own day-to-day activities based on leadership guidance and goals.
  • Be a culture carrier who values collaboration and getting to the right answer.
  • Foster cross-functional relationships and teamwork.
  • Engage in constructive debate with a strong point of view while remaining open to alternatives.
  • Partner with Sales leadership on top-of-funnel programs, marketing initiatives, and community/company events to raise Grafana’s brand and address customer problems.
  • Understand key customers’ adoption strategies for Grafana technologies and develop enablement programs and collateral.
  • Ensure customer requirements are met in partnership with Product Management and Engineering.
  • Own and report on quarterly cadence of the team, helping prospects evaluate our software through discovery, demonstrations, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and technical validation (POVs and Mutual Account Plans).
What Makes You a Great Fit:
  • 10+ years in the high tech industry with roles such as Developer, Sales Engineer/Architect, SRE, Manager, etc.
  • 5+ years of People Management experience in a sales organization
  • Direct experience mentoring and developing people and managing performance
  • Direct experience selling monitoring/data/visualization products
  • Open Source selling or Cloud-first/Product-led sales go-to-market experience a plus
  • Experience implementing formal sales methodologies and qualification frameworks (e.g., MEDDPICC)
  • Experience with complex enterprise sales
Compensation & Rewards:

In the United States, the OTE compensation range for this role is $253,000 - $303,000. Actual compensation varies based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed during the interview process. All roles include RSUs, aligning with Grafana Labs’ success and global growth.
