Job summary

Hearst Magazines is seeking a Senior Manager, Events in New York City to lead the planning and execution of high-profile live experiences that connect audiences, advertisers, and partners with Hearst brands. You will manage budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams to deliver premium event experiences.

The role requires 7+ years in event management and a proven track record in sponsorship activations, with willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends as events demand.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in event management, experiential production, or a related field, with demonstrated success delivering premium consumer, corporate, or brand experiences.
  • Strong knowledge of event strategy and production, including budgeting, timelines, logistics, vendor management, onsite operations, and post-event reconciliation.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex events and priorities simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and delivering against deadlines.
  • Strong project management and presentation skills, with the ability to turn ambitious ideas into clear, actionable production plans.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, internal stakeholders, creative partners, vendors, and talent.
  • Experience supporting sponsorship activations and client deliverables is strongly preferred.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented approach and the ability to make sound decisions in dynamic, high-pressure event environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work evenings or weekends as event schedules require.
  • This role is based in New York City and follows a hybrid schedule, with an expectation of working in the office four days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of assigned live experiences from initial concept through onsite delivery, budget reconciliation, and post-event reporting.
  • Develop and manage event budgets, production timelines, logistics, staffing plans, guest communications, project plans, and operational materials to keep programs on schedule and on budget.
  • Partner with sales, marketing, editorial, and other internal stakeholders to translate business, audience, and client objectives into compelling event experiences.
  • Execute sponsorship activations and client deliverables, supporting advertiser and partner relationships throughout the event lifecycle and ensuring commitments are fulfilled at a high standard.
  • Manage relationships with venues, vendors, production companies, and other external partners, establishing clear expectations and driving successful execution.
  • Create detailed production documents, including run-of-shows, floor plans, timelines, and onsite operational plans that enable seamless collaboration and execution.
  • Coordinate VIP experiences, talent logistics, hospitality, guest needs, and sponsor activations to deliver thoughtful, premium experiences for attendees and partners.
  • Anticipate and solve production and operational challenges, adapting quickly in fast-moving environments while tracking event performance and contributing to post-event insights.

The base salary range for this role is $90,000-$122,000. This position is not eligible for bonus or commission compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
