Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a ~15-person team of bargaining unit test technicians and EMI/nuclear engineers in production qualification testing. You will hire, mentor, coach, review performance, and manage budgets and staffing to meet project goals.

Responsibilities include defining staff needs, securing equipment, coordinating cross-functional work, and ensuring adherence to schedules and cost objectives. Domestic travel may be required.

Competenze

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
  • Ability to obtain a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
  • Prior EMI, Nuclear Engineering, or Lab Management experience.

The Environmental Effects Engineering organization is looking for a candidate to fill a Senior Engineering Manager position in Cedar Rapids Iowa. This position will lead a team of approximately 15 bargaining unit test technicians andnuclear/EMItest engineers performing production qualification testing.


What You Will Do:

The candidate will be responsible for providing leadership, guidance, hiring, and mentoring to new engineers and technicians.A candidate for this position will prepare/deliver performance reviews, provide coaching/mentoring, assist in career development, plan salaries, reward and recognize individuals, and manage staff performance, as needed. The candidate will also be responsible for identifying the necessary staff, facilities, and equipment for the successful execution of projects. In addition to strong leadership and organizational skills, candidates must have experience in bargaining unit management and aerospace product qualification testing.


Candidate will be responsible for adherence to capital and operating budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements, along with the planning and budgeting for the acquisition of test equipment.Occasional domestic and international travel is rare but may be expected for this position.


Other responsibilities and job requirements include but are not limited to the following:


  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to lead a cross functional team in the qualification testing of aerospace products.

  • Experience in overall successful project execution and oversight to ensure development teams have properly planned, set up project schedules, identified, hired and trained staff for project execution, and provide oversight that the team executes to the established schedule and cost objectives.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to interface with Engineering Managers, Technical Project Managers, Program Managers and Operations Managers across all business areas within Collins Aerospace.

  • Experience in supporting pursuit activities, including bids and proposals.

  • Experience identifying and trackingwork packages that can be workedby subcontract companies.

  • Assigns technical resources to work assignments (workforce allocation).

  • Ensures compliance to development processes and standard work requirements.

  • Actively addresses employee performance and development issues.

  • Experience in performance review and career development planning for individual contributors.

  • Salary planning experience.

  • Responsible for the development and technical coaching/mentoring of staff.

  • Responsible for on-boarding and assimilation of new hires.

  • Experience with working with bargaining unit technicians and related labor relations rules.


Qualifications You Must Have:

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
