Job summary

Torani, Inc. seeks an Enterprise Data Architect to design the data ecosystem and roadmaps for scalable analytics and AI-ready insights. You will shape architecture for the data store, lakehouse, and pipelines, setting standards and governance across teams.

You will build and lead a data engineering capability, mentor staff, and partner with stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable data solutions that drive growth.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles with 3+ years leading enterprise data architecture.
• Deep knowledge of modern cloud data architecture, data modeling, integration patterns, and pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Azure, AWS, or comparable platforms.
• Experience building or scaling data engineering capabilities and leading technical talent.

Location: San Leandro, CA

For the first time, we're intentionally defining how data is structured, how it moves across our business, and the platforms and practices that will allow us to use it at scale, including the role of AI in transforming daily data-driven decision-making to next-level insights.

The Enterprise Data Architect will play a foundational leadership role in shaping that future. Reporting to the Director of IT - MarTech & Data Platforms, you'll work closely with business and technology partners to define and build the architecture for Torani's evolving data ecosystem. You'll bring the technical expertise to make thoughtful architecture decisions. As our capabilities grow, you'll build and lead our internal data engineering capability, developing people and establishing the standards, partnerships, and ways of working that allow Torani to increasingly own and evolve our data platforms.

Success Factors (First 12-24 Months)

• Data Platform Architecture: You established a clear architecture and roadmap for the foundational data platforms that will support Torani's next era of growth. Working collaboratively with technology and business partners, you defined the target state for our Operational Data Store, Data Lakehouse, and enterprise data pipelines, making thoughtful decisions about how data should be structured, integrated, governed, and delivered across the ecosystem. You brought the right people together to establish principles, sequencing, and reusable patterns that allowed these capabilities to evolve as one scalable and connected data platform supporting Torani's operational, analytics, governance, and future AI needs.
• Data Architecture & Engineering Standards: You established practical architecture and engineering standards that brought greater consistency to how Torani's data was modeled, moved, integrated, and delivered. You worked closely with internal teams and external partners to turn complex technical requirements into clear guardrails and reusable patterns for data modeling, pipelines, APIs, orchestration, and integration. By creating standards with the teams who would use them—not simply for them—you helped move Torani away from one-off solutions toward approaches that were understood, adopted, maintainable, and scalable.
• People Leadership: You built the foundation for a strong internal data engineering capability and developed a team equipped to grow with Torani's evolving data needs. You thoughtfully balanced internal talent and external expertise, bringing in the right partners to accelerate our journey while intentionally building greater capability and ownership within Torani. As your team grew, clear priorities and expectations were set, you coached and developed your people, and empowered them to solve problems and make strong technical decisions within a shared architecture. Through your leadership, you built a collaborative team that learned together, challenged thinking, and increasingly owned the platforms and engineering practices it helped create.
• Partnership & Change Leadership: You became a trusted partner who made a complex and rapidly evolving data landscape understandable and approachable across Torani. You invested the time to understand what teams were trying to accomplish, translated business needs into scalable technical solutions, and brought the right partners together to work through decisions and tradeoffs. Recognizing that many of these concepts and ways of working were new to Torani, you helped people understand not only what was changing, but why it mattered. Through listening, teaching, collaboration, and thoughtful challenge, you built confidence in the journey and helped teams see themselves as partners in shaping Torani's data future.
• Technology Strategy & Architecture Stewardship: You became a trusted steward of Torani's long-term data architecture, ensuring major platform, integration, and technology decisions supported both today's business needs and the ecosystem we're building for tomorrow. You brought stakeholders, technical teams, and partners together to evaluate technologies, surface tradeoffs and dependencies, and make thoughtful decisions with the broader enterprise in mind. You welcomed expertise from vendors, cloud providers, and delivery partners while ensuring Torani maintained ownership of its architecture and long-term technical direction. Your ability to balance strong technical perspective with curiosity and collaboration helped us make decisions that teams understood, supported, and could confidently build upon.

What You'll Bring

• 7+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related technical roles, including 3+ years designing or leading enterprise data architecture solutions.
• Deep knowledge of modern cloud data architecture, data modeling, integration patterns, and enterprise data pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with modern cloud and data technologies such as Snowflake, Azure, AWS, or comparable platforms.
• Experience building or scaling data engineering capabilities, including leading technical talent and effectively leveraging external partners.
