Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Manager, Capital Engineering to lead development and execution of digital engineering solutions within NA.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage large‑scale capital engineering projects for automation, IoT and continuous improvement solutions, ensuring alignment with long‑term business goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Operations, Health & Safety, Finance, Quality) and external suppliers to drive project success and manage stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead the preparation of Capex documents, including cost estimates, project justifications, equipment layouts and technical specifications, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Manage equipment installation and commissioning, including contractor supervision and safety compliance, and ensure adherence to all environmental regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and increasing operational efficiency through advanced technologies such as AI, robotics and digital twin models.
- Ensure the development and delivery of proper training programs and operational documentation, including as‑built drawings, manuals and spare parts lists, to ensure seamless handover to operational teams.
- Maintain strict financial control over capital projects, accurately forecasting expenditures, managing budgets and ensuring fiduciary compliance throughout project execution.
- Champion Zero Harm and environmental standards to meet the highest safety requirements and regulatory compliance.
Major/Key Accountabilities
- Develop strategies and technologies to deliver the $100‑150MM asset digitization program across the US & Canada.
- Grow and develop a team of highly skilled engineers throughout NA.
- Lead transformational initiatives collaborating with cross‑functional teams in alignment with long‑term digitization and tracking goals.
- Ensure global alignment to capture and implement best practices for sustainable and efficient operations.
- Collaborate with Operations, Health & Safety and Quality teams to develop, seek approval and implement Capital Equipment Projects on schedule, within cost and performance standards.
- Lead the development of CapEx documents—including cost estimates and project justifications.
- Manage the full capital project lifecycle: scope development, RfQ, purchase orders, contractor selection, on‑site supervision, installation, commissioning and tagging.
- Communicate effectively with key stakeholders from project development to commissioning.
- Track and report progress against project deliverables.
- Utilize FAT, CQV and vertical start‑up processes with suppliers and operations teams to ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate on‑site training and hand‑off of finished projects with all documentation.
- Maintain financial controls and accurate monthly spend forecasting.
- Conduct critical equipment design reviews to improve MTBF, efficiency and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
- Seek internal and external innovation to meet long‑term business objectives.
- Develop suppliers by providing closed‑loop feedback and ensuring quality systems deliver desired outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5–7 years of project engineering or project management experience for large industrial projects in a global matrixed organization.
- Demonstrated success delivering capital projects/programs valued above $5MM.
- Experience with material handling, automation, conveyance systems and robotics.
- Experience leading a technical team of highly skilled engineers.
- Knowledge of tracking technology and vision systems preferred.
- Proficiency in English; Spanish desirable.
