Job summary

BD, a leading global medical technology company, seeks a Senior Manager EHS in Maryland to lead the development and execution of comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety programs across Waters/BD operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and a safer workplace.

The role oversees audits, incident investigations, training programs, hazardous waste and industrial hygiene initiatives, and cross‑functional collaboration to embed EHS into projects and daily operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in EHS management.
  • CSP or equivalent certification highly desirable.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and local EHS regulations.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing effective EHS management systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Occasional travel requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections, identifying hazards and non‑compliance, and overseeing corrective actions.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, implementing preventative measures.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Manage hazardous waste programs, ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal.
  • Oversee industrial hygiene programs, including exposure monitoring and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with departments to integrate EHS into operations and projects.
  • Prepare and submit required EHS reports to regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
  • Manage EHS budget and resources.
  • Stay current with EHS regulations, best practices, and trends.
  • Act as primary contact for regulatory bodies during inspections.

Job description

The Senior Manager EHS (Sr Mgr EHS) will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety programs across Waters/BD operations to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and foster a safe working environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and non‑compliance issues, recommending and overseeing corrective actions.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implement preventative measures to minimize future occurrences.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs to employees at all levels, promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Manage hazardous waste programs, ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee industrial hygiene programs, including exposure monitoring and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with various departments to integrate EHS considerations into all business operations and projects.
  • Prepare and submit all required EHS reports to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage EHS budget and resources effectively.
  • Stay current with EHS regulations, best practices, and emerging trends to continuously improve EHS performance.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for EHS regulatory bodies during inspections or inquiries.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8‑10 years of progressive experience in EHS management, preferably within the life sciences or manufacturing industry.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification highly desirable.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing effective EHS management systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing EHS teams or programs.
  • Proficiency in EHS software and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as required.

Salary Range: $134,100.00 - $214,500.00 USD Annual
