Job summary

University Settlement in New York, NY is seeking an Assistant Director of Individual Giving and Events to lead donor strategy, cultivation, and stewardship through events, partnerships, and targeted engagement initiatives.

You will direct the annual gala, grow corporate partnerships, manage the Events Coordinator, and collaborate with the Director of Individual Giving and Chief External Relations Officer to deepen donor relationships and expand fundraising impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 3–5 years nonprofit event management, corporate partnerships, volunteer engagement, and/or fundraising experience.
• Experience soliciting and securing financial support from donors, sponsors, or partners is preferred.
• Demonstrated track record planning and managing events.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong relationship management skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; Raiser’s Edge experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute an annual events strategy aligned with fundraising goals.
• Direct planning and execution of the annual gala with 300+ guests.
• Serve as the lead project manager for gala planning and execution.
• Supervise the Events Coordinator in gala and related experiences.
• Partner with the Director of Individual Giving on sponsorships, ticket sales, and donor processing.
• Collaborate on gala theme, design, program content, and entertainment.
• Identify honorees and corporate sponsors with leadership.
• Manage gala relationships including committee members and Board members.
• Expand corporate partnerships with volunteer engagement and philanthropy.
• Oversee smaller cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising events (Board events).
• Support peer-to-peer fundraising programs (marathon, half, etc.).
• Direct donor stewardship efforts, including impact reporting and Changemakers Circle.
• Manage a portfolio of corporate partners, mid-level donors, and Board members.
• Support senior leadership’s major donor portfolio via events and partnerships.
• Provide fundraising and event support to program colleagues.
• Supervise the Events Coordinator with coaching and development.
