Summary

Data Science Senior Managers in GEICO's Pricing Department lead complex data analyses and develop pricing, econometric, statistical, and machine learning models to drive business decisions, identify actionable insights, and create specific business value through shared insights and analytic solutions. In this role, Senior Managers apply actuarial and analytics skills to forecast business results based on in-market and proposed rating plan changes, providing leaders with options for rating plan changes that are optimized according to evolving business goals, regulations, and market conditions. These functions help leaders improve decision-making and set measurable expectations for changes to GEICO’s rating plans.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Lead collaborations with State Management, Product Management, Finance, Technology, and Pricing to identify analytic initiatives, formulate strategies, design rating plan enhancements, and develop solutions to achieve business goals through data and modeling.
  2. Build and manage a team of technical analysts and data scientists, training them in data access, analytical methods, and business relevance.
  3. Develop strategic and tactical plans, review progress, escalate issues, and monitor results against goals.
  4. Communicate data findings and insights through visualization, presentations, memos, and other formats.
  5. Establish best practices for documentation, project management, coding, and development within the team.
  6. Select appropriate actuarial, statistical, and machine learning methods for projects.
  7. Manage data extraction, aggregation, and synthesis using SQL, R, SAS, Python, or other languages for analysis, modeling, and deployment.
  8. Apply actuarial and data science skills to analyze large datasets, identify patterns, and generate actionable insights.
  9. Explore and adopt new data sources, uses, and methods to enhance data quality, efficiency, and value.
  10. Oversee building, testing, and validation of models and analyses as part of solution development.
  11. Lead the implementation of analytic solutions into reporting platforms or production systems, including design, development, testing, and monitoring.
Candidate Qualifications And Skills
  1. 6+ years’ experience in data science and insurance pricing/ratemaking, with deep understanding of both.
  2. 3+ years leading a team of analysts or data scientists.
  3. Actuarial ACAS/FCAS, advanced degree in a quantitative field, or 4+ years insurance leadership experience.
  4. Excellent communication, facilitation, and coaching skills for team and stakeholder engagement.
  5. Experience developing team development roadmaps, influencing decisions, and driving business value.
  6. Proficiency with predictive modeling, machine learning, experimental design, A/B testing, and tools like R, Python, SQL, Spark.
Compensation and Location

Annual Salary: $120,000 - $240,000

This is a hybrid role, on-site 3 days/week in Chicago, IL, Chevy Chase, MD, or New York, NY.

Additional Information

The salary range is a guideline; final offers depend on multiple factors including experience, education, location, and market conditions.
