Job description

Position Summary

Sony Corporation of America is seeking a Senior Manager, Cyber Defense to join the Corporate Information Security Department (CISD), GSIRT, located in Reston, VA. This position reports to the Cyber Defense Team (CDT) US2 and supports Sony companies headquartered in the western United States. The incumbent will lead a team responsible for designing, engineering, supporting, and implementing technology infrastructure for global incident response. The Cyber Defense team plays a crucial role in securing Sony's information assets, services, and products, fostering trust with customers and safeguarding privacy.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Manage a team of Cyber Defense Engineers, setting strategic priorities, assigning tasks, and overseeing administrative functions.
  2. Engage with Sony Group Companies to identify cybersecurity needs, understand IT environments, and facilitate project implementations.
  3. Plan deployment of cybersecurity hardware and software in on-premises and cloud environments.
  4. Ensure successful data onboarding from various systems into GSIRT's SIEM system.
  5. Develop operational processes, procedures, and documentation for cybersecurity engineering programs.
  6. Review vulnerabilities, assess impacts, and coordinate remediation efforts with SGCs.
  7. Monitor SIEM solutions for incident data and support incident response activities.
  8. Develop and report on security metrics and KPIs.
  9. Support flexible work hours and on-call duties to meet global operational needs.
  10. Perform additional duties related to cyber defense as assigned.
  11. Maintain honesty, trustworthiness, and ethical conduct in all responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Experience leading or managing a technical team, preferably in cyber defense.
  • Broad understanding of IT, cybersecurity concepts, and tools.
  • Knowledge of data onboarding processes for SIEM solutions.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python.
  • Understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP.
  • Competency in data query languages like SPL.
  • Experience with command line interfaces and shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools like SaltStack or Ansible.
  • Basic awareness of privacy laws and regulations.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or related fields preferred.
  • Experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure) and certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools, such as GitLab, and project management approaches like Agile.
Benefits and Compensation

Anticipated annual base salary: $185,000 to $205,000, with a target bonus of 17%. Compensation includes comprehensive benefits, wellness programs, and employee perks. Actual salary depends on qualifications, experience, and location.
