Job summary

Oracle’s OCI Compute Control Plane team is seeking a senior engineering leader focused on scaling, security, and high availability for bare metal and VM platforms. Based in Nashville, TN, this onsite role will set strategic vision, drive near-term roadmaps, and cultivate a culture of high-quality delivery.

You will mentor engineers, improve automation, own operational excellence, and partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver impactful compute features in a fast-paced cloud environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • 10 years engineering experience with at least 2 years as a people manager.
  • Strong knowledge of software development, cloud technologies, infrastructure automation, and compute systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Advanced degrees or relevant certifications preferred.
  • Passion for leading world-class engineering teams.

This role will have focus areas in both our Compute Metering and Compute Dynamic Power Management spaces. The role will involve setting the strategic vision and near-term roadmap items, executing on delivery in an efficient manner, cultivating a culture of high standards for quality and delivery, and growing the team. The successful hire will have a passion for automation, solving complex problems, and working in a high-impact, fast-paced environment. This is a highly visible and impactful role based in Nashville, TN. You will be co-located with key leadership to maximize collaboration, accelerate delivery, and support OCI’s strategic growth initiatives. Note that this role is onsite in our downtown Nashville offices and Oracle is 5 days in the office.

Responsibilities
  • Organizational Leadership : Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing engineering organization, ensuring the professional growth of engineers.
  • Architecture & Delivery : Oversee software architecture, development, debugging, and enhancement activities in line with design specifications and business requirements. Advocate for and drive improvements within existing architectures, guiding your team in delivering resilient, automated, and scalable solutions. Set clear, measurable goals; monitor progress and hold teams accountable for achieving key deliverables at high quality.
  • Strategy & Roadmap : Define and execute the technology roadmap and operational strategies for compute developer efficiency and AI intiatives , ensuring alignment with OCI’s priorities.
  • Operational Excellence: Build and maintain operational support structure for your services, including on-call rotations. Lead operational incidents to resolution as necessary. Deliver post-mortem analysis for operational incidents and drive necessary improvements in process and services to improve availability as a result.
  • Communication : Articulate forward-looking plans, strategies, and project outcomes to leadership and stakeholders, ensuring widespread understanding, support, and alignment.
  • Hiring and Talent Development : Responsible for hiring plans and attainment of hiring goals. Lead by example in identifying and nurturing talent, conducting career development conversations, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and advancement.
Qualifications
  • Leadership Experience : 10 years engineering experience, including at least 2 years as a people manager.
  • Technical Proficiency : Strong, hands-on technical background, with knowledge of software development, cloud technologies, infrastructure automation, and cloud compute systems.
  • Vision : Proven ability to define and execute strategic and operational roadmaps for technical organizations.
  • Communication and Collaboration : Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate well with cross-functional teams.
  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications in project/program management preferred.
  • Passion for Excellence : Demonstrated drive to create and lead world-class engineering teams and the mindset to foster excellence.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $146,300 - $306,400 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  • Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
