Job summary

Oracle US is seeking a strategic Engineering Leader to build the operating model for OCI’s data center engineering across generations, from concept through fleet deployment.

The role collaborates with Architecture, Design Engineering, OEMs, Product Engineering, and Supply Chain to drive governance, validation, and scalable deployment while maintaining engineering rigor and operational readiness across Oracle’s global data center footprint.

Responsibilities

  • Define the engineering lifecycle and governance model for successive generations of OCI data center designs.
  • Establish stage gates, technical reviews, and engineering readiness criteria from concept through production release.
  • Integrate roadmaps from Architecture, Rack Engineering, Design Engineering and Product Engineering into future platforms.
  • Ingest rack technology roadmaps to assess mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and controls impacts.
  • Ensure engineering decisions are documented, reviewed, and governed through standardized development processes.

Job description

Job Description

This leader will build the engineering operating model that defines how OCI develops, validates,

and scales new infrastructure technologies from concept through global fleet deployment. The

organization will establish the systems and governance supporting generational design

development, technology roadmap integration, Basis of Design (BOD) management, new

product introduction (NPI), engineering change management, first-of-a-kind (FOAK) validation,

commissioning standardization, and continuous engineering improvement across OCI’s global

data center portfolio.

A key responsibility of this organization will be translating OCI’s evolving compute, networking,

and AI infrastructure roadmaps into scalable facility engineering solutions. Working closely with

Hardware and Architecture teams, the team will assess the impact of next-generation rack

platforms, power densities, cooling technologies, and emerging infrastructure requirements on

mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and controls systems. The organization will ensure

new technologies are evaluated through structured engineering reviews, comprehensive

validation strategies, and phased deployment processes before fleet-wide adoption.

This leader will establish repeatable engineering systems that ensure infrastructure designs,

products, and engineering changes are technically sound, operationally validated, and scalable

across OCI’s global footprint. The organization will develop standardized engineering processes

for technology introduction, engineering change control, design maturity, configuration

management, commissioning, and operational handoff while ensuring engineering decisions are

documented, traceable, and consistently implemented across regions.

The role will drive cross-functional alignment, balancing innovation with standardization to

accelerate deployment velocity while maintaining engineering rigor, operational readiness, and

lifecycle performance.

The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in engineering operations, critical infrastructure

development, and technical program and product leadership with a proven track record of

building organizations, establishing scalable engineering processes, and leading complex cross-

functional initiatives in hyperscale, cloud, semiconductor, or other mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities
Generational Design Development
  • Define the engineering lifecycle and governance model for successive generations of OCI data center designs
  • Establish stage gates, technical reviews, and engineering readiness criteria from concept through production release.
  • Integrate Architecture, Rack Engineering, Design Engineering, and Product Engineering roadmaps into future platform development.
  • Ingest rack technology roadmaps to assess impacts on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and controls infrastructure.
  • Ensure engineering decisions are documented, reviewed, and governed through standardized development processes while enabling rapid technology adoption.
Engineering Change Management
  • Establish enterprise engineering change processes and governance for infrastructure designs, engineering standards, and Basis of Design documentation.
  • Develop Engineering Change Order (ECO) and Design Change Request (DCR) processes with clearly defined ownership, approval paths, and implementation requirements.
  • Evaluate technical, operational, manufacturing, supply chain, schedule, and cost impacts before changes are implemented.
  • Ensure engineering changes are scalable across OCI’s global fleet and not optimized solely for individual projects.
  • Govern implementation of design changes to maintain consistency while accommodating justified regional requirements.
New Product Introduction & Technology Integration
  • Develop OCI’s engineering systems and governance for introducing new infrastructure technologies into production.
  • Define engineering deliverables, qualification requirements, pilot deployments, validation activities, and production readiness criteria.
  • Establish structured FOAK evaluation processes and technology readiness assessments before fleet-wide deployment.
  • Partner with Design Engineering, OEMs, Product Engineering, and Supply Chain to influence product selection and ensure alignment with OCI’s long-term infrastructure strategy.
  • Develop governance for technology transitions, ensuring new products are integrated into standardized design platforms with minimal operational risk.
Engineering Validation & Commissioning
  • Develop engineering validation strategies and governance for new infrastructure platforms, products, and system architectures.
  • Establish standardized test strategies including laboratory validation, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), integrated systems testing, FOAK validation, and operational qualification.
  • Define engineering acceptance criteria and commissioning requirements that ensure infrastructure is validated before operational handoff.
  • Standardize commissioning methodologies, documentation, and turnover processes across OCI’s global deployments.
  • Create feedback mechanisms that incorporate commissioning and operational learnings into future design generations and engineering standards.
