Job summary

Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a Senior Manager, Configuration Management to lead configuration management, change management, and components engineering activities across complex engineering and production programs. This role is responsible for ensuring technical baseline integrity, disciplined change control, and effective component selection and lifecycle management in support of customer, program, and business objectives. The ideal candidate brings strong functional leadership experience, deep technical knowledge, and the ability to partner across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management.

Essential Functions:

• Lead the specialty engineering organization supporting Space Surveillance programs, including technical oversight, personnel development, workload balancing, and performance management.
• Establish and maintain change management processes that support product lifecycle activities, including requirements baseline control, bill of material alignment, document release, engineering change implementation, and status accounting.
• Provide strategic and technical leadership for Space Surveillance configuration control boards, change review boards, and related governance activities to ensure timely and compliant decision-making.
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, contracts, and program management to ensure configuration baselines are accurately defined, controlled, and communicated across the enterprise.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures, contractual requirements, customer expectations, and applicable industry and government standards related to configuration management and data management.
• Oversee the development, release, control, and audit readiness of technical data packages, engineering documentation, and product structure information within enterprise systems.
• Lead development and maintenance of approved parts lists, derating guidance, application standards, and component engineering procedures to support consistent engineering execution.
• Support failure investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action development, and material review activities involving component performance, suitability, or compliance concerns.
• Drive process improvement initiatives focused on configuration management efficiency, standardization, tool utilization, quality, and cycle time reduction.
• Support program captures, proposals, startup activities, and program execution planning by defining configuration management resource needs, scope, and deliverables.
• Develop and communicate metrics related to change processing, baseline integrity, document quality, and overall functional performance to leadership and stakeholders.
• Travel up to 10% as needed to support business objectives, customer engagement, and program execution.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a United States security clearance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
• Active United States security clearance, Top Secret/SCI w/Poly.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Minimum of 6 years of leadership experience managing teams, technical organizations, or functional groups in configuration management, data management, component engineering operations, or related disciplines.
• Experience supporting formal configuration management processes in a regulated environment across development, production, integration, and sustainment activities.
• Experience with engineering change management, configuration control, product baseline management, and technical data release processes.
• Experience with obsolescence management, alternate component evaluation, and parts approval processes.
• Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders in engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management.
• Experience using product lifecycle management, enterprise resource planning, and document management systems in support of controlled technical baselines.
• Experience leading configuration management organizations supporting complex aerospace, defense, space, or high-reliability products.
• Familiarity with configuration management standards such as Electronic Industries Alliance-649 (EIA-649) or military and defense contractual configuration requirements.
• Experience with product lifecycle management tools and enterprise systems used for engineering release, product structure management, and change implementation.
• Experience supporting internal and external audits, customer reviews, and data package delivery requirements.
• Knowledge of hardware and software configuration management practices across the full product lifecycle.
• Familiarity with component derating, qualification, reliability considerations, and preferred parts list management.
• Experience supporting diminishing manufacturing sources and material shortages planning and mitigation.
• Knowledge of electrical, electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical component application considerations in regulated product environments.
• Experience driving functional transformation, process harmonization, and organizational change across multiple programs or business areas.
• Familiarity with proposal support, basis of estimate development, and resource planning for functional organizations.
