Job summary

Newrez is seeking a Senior Manager Compliance Systems - Originations to lead the company’s compliance technology and third-party integrations, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local laws.

The role requires oversight of regulatory testing, disclosure requirements, and product compliance, with leadership of a compliance team and collaboration with internal and external partners.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of management or supervisory experience leading professionals.
  • 4+ years of mortgage compliance experience preferred.
  • 10+ years of mortgage lending experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee development and execution of testing and reports to ensure compliance with RESPA, TILA, ECOA, FCRA, GLBA, HMDA, SAFE Act, and state laws.
  • Lead compliance risk assessments and test plan development.
  • Act as SME on regulatory disclosure requirements.
  • Oversee regulatory fee profiling for compliance with laws.
  • Manage integrations with third-party compliance software providers.
  • Provide oversight of LOS, POS, and internal applications for regulatory alignment.
  • Conduct examinations and prepare remediation plans as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager Compliance Systems - Originations supports the Company’s compliance management plan through the oversight and management of the Company’s Compliance technology and third-party integrations to ensure that the Company complies with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

DESCRIPTION:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of the Company’s compliance initiatives, including providing management oversight over the development and execution of testing and reports to comply with the company’s compliance various requirements, including Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), Secure and Fair Enforcement of Licensing Act (SAFE Act), and any applicable state specific consumer protection and lending laws.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of the Company’s compliance risk assessments and development of compliance test plans.
  • Serve as a Company’s subject matter expert on regulatory disclosure requirements, ensuring that the Company complies with all federal, state, and local disclosure requirements.
  • Serve as the Company’s subject matter expert and provide compliance oversight over the Company’s regulatory fee profile, ensuring that all fees programmed and charged comply with federal and state regulations.
  • Lead a team in providing compliance oversight over the Company’s new mortgage products and services, including evaluating new product and product updates to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead a team of compliance analysts in managing the Company’s integrations with its third-party compliance software providers, including but not limited to automated compliance testing service providers, document generation providers, and any other providers as outlined in the Company’s compliance risk and control plan.
  • Provide compliance oversight of the Company’s proprietary systems, including its LOS, POS, and other internal applications to ensure new features and updates comply with federal and state laws and regulations, and investor requirements, as necessary.
  • Assist with diagnosing and remediating compliance related technical issues escalated from internal and external parties.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews with direct report staff.
  • Participate in all aspects of federal, state, and agency/investor examinations as needed, including completing loan file reviews, preparation of examination responses, and the development of remediation plans and post implementation testing to ensure effectiveness.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of management or supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to effectively lead other professionals
  • 6-8 years of demonstrated mortgage legal and/or compliance experience required.
  • 10+ years of mortgage lending experience required.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Proven leadership and management skills with demonstrated ability to build a group and realize goals, and to ensure appropriate staffing and organizational structure is in place to support the Company’s operations.
  • Strong project management, organization skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be detail-oriented, demonstrate careful decision-making, and problem resolution skills
  • An ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with mortgage Loan Originations Systems (LOS), documents and Extensible Markup Language (XML) data.
  • Experience with Automated Compliance Systems (such as Mavent, Compliance Ease, etc.) is preferred.
