Senior Manager, AWS Corp Security Response

Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Senior Security Engineering Manager to join our AWS Corporate Security Response team (CorpSec). Reporting to the Global Corporate Security Response Lead, you will serve as the Corp Response US Senior Lead, managing leaders of the US East and US West sites, and may act as the global secondary leader when required. This senior leadership role involves overseeing a team of talented security professionals responsible for detecting, analyzing, and responding to security threats across Amazon, as part of a global, follow-the-sun security response team.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, deep technical knowledge, and a proven background in information security, including incident response, malware analysis, digital forensics, and security operations. Experience in leading security response functions and developing security tooling and automation is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate AWS Security Corporate Security Response teams across North America for timely and effective response to security issues.
• Manage security incident response processes, measure operational metrics, and improve team efficiency.
• Develop and operate security automation, detection, tooling, and capabilities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Amazon Security and Corporate IT to implement process improvements and ensure best security practices.
• Monitor threat intelligence and maintain situational awareness of security events.
• Ensure operational continuity during security events through effective communication.
• Assist the global response lead in defining security response strategies.

Performance Management

• Create a positive work environment and goal-driven framework for security success.
• Mentor and guide managers, overseeing their leadership and development.
• Manage performance, hiring, and career development for your team.
• Provide technical and soft skills coaching.
• Establish training programs for team members.
• Supervise daily team activities and escalate issues as needed.
• Track and report on key initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or relevant experience.
• 10+ years of industry experience with security response expertise.
• 10+ years managing and building teams, including mentoring.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree.
• 7+ years experience with security technologies such as SIEM, EDR, forensic tools, etc.
• Experience in a Security Operations Center or similar environment.
• Expertise in incident response, malware analysis, and security tooling development.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, GIAC).
• Strong risk prioritization skills.
