Job summary

The New York Jets are seeking a Senior Manager, Athletic Fields & Grounds at The Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park, New Jersey. The role reports to the Director and coordinates daily tasks for support staff to maintain safe, visually appealing fields and grounds.

Qualifications

• Degree in Turfgrass Science or related field.
• Seven or more years of athletic field, golf or grounds maintenance experience.
• Experience managing sand-based root zones and cool season turf.
• Experience managing staff.
• Ability to obtain a New Jersey Pesticide License within 1 year of employment.
• Ability to obtain a New Jersey Fertilizer Applicators License within 3 months of employment.
• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, run, twist climb and lift 75lbs for extended periods.
• Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Manage the grounds maintenance fleet including records of oil, fuel, air filter changes, greasing, blade sharpening, belts and parts inventory.
• Irrigation diagnostics relating to system running properly; troubleshoot and repair heads, valves, damaged lines, and solenoids.
• Assess environmental stress factors for cool season turfgrass diseases and take corrective actions.
• Prepare and maintain fields to NFL specifications including soil/tissue testing, mowing, fertilizing, aerification, topdressing, seeding, divot repair.
• General landscape maintenance for events; mowing, mulching, weeding, planting, painting, etc.
• Maintain artificial practice surfaces per NFL regulations; groom techniques and record strike results.
• Observe and communicate corrective actions for MetLife Stadium surface.
• Stand in for Director, Athletic Fields & Grounds in absence.
• All other duties assigned by the Director.
