Job description

Beam Therapeutics is a biotechnology company committed to establishing the leading, fully integrated platform for precision genetic medicines. To achieve this vision, Beam has assembled a platform that includes a suite of gene editing and delivery technologies and is in the process of building internal manufacturing capabilities. Beam’s suite of gene editing technologies is anchored by base editing, a proprietary technology that is designed to enable precise, predictable and efficient single base changes, at targeted genomic sequences, without making double-stranded breaks in the DNA. This has the potential to enable a wide range of potential therapeutic editing strategies that Beam is using to advance a diversified portfolio of base editing programs. Beam is a values-driven organization committed to its people, cutting-edge science, and a vision of providing life-long cures to patients suffering from serious diseases.

Position Overview:

  • Managing medical communication activities, including development of medical education materials (e.g, physician decks, scientific platforms, field medical materials) for both internal and external audiences.
  • Support scientific congress strategy and operational execution, including coordinating Beam activities (e.g., booth, materials, meetings with KOLs) and supporting competitive intelligence in collaboration with portfolio strategy.
  • Support medical affairs through activities such as quarterly dashboards and monthly literature newsletters.
  • Representing Medical Affairs across collaborations with both external and internal stakeholders, including but not limited to clinical development, clinical operations, biometrics, bioanalytics, clinical pharmacology, portfolio strategy, patient advocacy and centricity, value and evidence strategy, and research & development teams.

  • Staying up to date with the latest developments and trends in the cell and gene therapy space.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced scientific or clinical degree (PharmD, PhD, MS, or equivalent degree)
  • 10+ years of experience in publications and medical communications at a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company.
  • Strong knowledge of GPP, ICMJE guidelines, and scientific communication industry best practices.
  • Technical ability to execute on core publications and medical communication tactics, including vendor management.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively persuade and influence stakeholders in high-stakes, sensitive situations.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, adept at managing personal and team dynamics to foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Proven expertise in conflict resolution, maintaining strong relationships and navigating challenges with professionalism.
  • Experience overseeing budgets, resources, and schedules, ensuring projects meet performance goals and organizational objectives.
  • Strategic and analytical mindset, capable of structuring and clarifying complex, ambiguous problems.
  • Strong scientific curiosity.
