Job summary

Beacon Hill Staffing Group is seeking a Senior Manager, Application Development to lead enterprise-scale applications, APIs, and cloud-based solutions. This fully remote role blends hands-on architecture with strategic leadership across a team of 5–7 engineers.

You will design high‑level and low‑level solutions, drive modernization on AWS, microservices, and API‑first integrations, and mentor engineers to deliver quality software in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years in technical leadership or engineering management.
• Hands-on architecture and solution design expertise.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot background.
• REST APIs, microservices, and enterprise integrations.
• AWS cloud experience with distributed architectures.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Ability to lead complex programs from design to execution.
• Experience leading distributed teams.
• Understanding of Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and observability.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools.

Senior Manager, Application Development

Location

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Application Development to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale applications, APIs, integrations, and cloud-based solutions for a large enterprise organization.

This is a hands‑on technical leadership role, approximately 70% technical / 30% management, ideal for someone who can operate as both a solution architect/technical lead and an engineering manager. You'll provide technical direction, own solution design and architecture, drive projects through execution, and lead a team of engineers.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering/application development experience.
• 5+ years of technical leadership and/or engineering management experience.
• Strong hands‑on architecture and solution design experience.
• Strong development background with Java and Spring Boot.
• Extensive experience with REST APIs, microservices, and enterprise integrations.
• Strong experience designing and implementing cloud solutions on AWS.
• Experience with event‑driven and distributed application architectures.
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Ability to lead complex technical programs from architecture/design through execution.
• Experience leading distributed engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery and modern software engineering practices.
• Exposure to AI-assisted software development, AI agents, or intelligent workflow automation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience within a highly regulated enterprise environment.
• Experience with healthcare-related technology or platforms is a plus.
• Experience with AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, Amazon Q, or similar technologies.
