Job summary

Databricks is seeking a senior leader to run the UK arm of the Forward Deployed AI Engineering team, delivering professional services for first-of-kind generative AI applications. You will build teams, advise executives, and influence product and GTM strategy across EMEA.

You will lead ML/DS teams, manage executive stakeholders, and shape scalable services across global delivery. This remote UK role reports to the AI FDE Director.

Qualifications

• Led and scaled data science/ML teams across complex engagements.
• Proven ability to guide enterprise AI transformations with senior stakeholders.
• Strong technical depth in ML, GenAI, data science, and production ML.
• Experience delivering production ML solutions on AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Track record shaping strategy with Sales, Product, and GTM teams.

Role overview

A senior leadership role running the UK arm of a Forward Deployed AI Engineering team that delivers professional services engagements to help enterprises build and productionise first-of-kind generative AI applications. The position blends team building, executive-level customer advisory work, and cross-functional influence on product and GTM strategy across EMEA.

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, and develop a team of high-performing data scientists, machine learning engineers, and team leads, scaling the organisation through process and leadership development.
• Build and expand executive relationships with EMEA customers and partners, including VP, CIO, and CDO-level stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor during complex AI transformations.
• Align with field engineering and sales leaders on joint strategy for strategic accounts and coordinate delivery across functions.
• Shape AI professional services practice: define scalable engagement models, reusable solutions, and standardised delivery processes that travel across the global team.
• Influence Product, R&D, and GTM by feeding back customer insights and delivery learnings into the product roadmap and go-to-market strategy.
• Own OKRs for AI-services-led accounts, revenue, utilisation, and public references, and represent the organisation externally as a thought leader in AI/ML.

Requirements

• Extensive experience managing and scaling teams of data scientists, ML engineers, and leaders, with a record of building organisations and developing leaders.
• Ability to scope, guide, and sell technical engagements and manage escalations in enterprise environments.
• Deep technical expertise in machine learning, generative AI, and data science, with active curiosity to stay current.
• Experience leading teams that build production ML solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Demonstrated success partnering with senior executive stakeholders on program-level strategy, technical vision, and trust.
• Track record collaborating cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and GTM teams to drive business impact through AI/ML.
• Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Operations Research, or equivalent practical experience.

• Customer-facing consulting or professional services leadership experience.
• Hands-on experience working with major data and AI platforms.
