Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices seeks a Sr. Manager in its AI engineering division to oversee end-to-end delivery of AI/ML software stacks across AMD teams. You will lead cross- functional collaboration with product, software and hardware teams as well as executives to drive successful program execution.

You will gain exposure to state-of-the-art AI/ML models, work on new hardware products like accelerators and GPUs, and shape CD pipelines in a rapidly expanding organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering managers, software developers, and product managers to drive planning and execution of multiple software projects.
  • Define, plan, and execute projects and program plans with senior mentorship.
  • Assess feasibility of new products by clarifying requirements with architects and engineers.
  • Develop program schedules and staffing plans to support timelines.
  • Create project plans, schedules, and improve tracking processes.
  • Deliver on program commitments within schedule, budget, and scope.
  • Act as liaison between R&D and partners for project success.
  • Own resource tracking, status reporting, and issue communication to executives.
  • Prepare and deliver project status updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Investigate technical aspects across firmware, compiler, runtime, tools, and apps.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to align operations and execution.

THE ROLE:

As a Sr. Manager in AMD's AI engineering division, you will oversee end-to-end delivery of cutting‑edge AI/ML software stacks for AMD teams. You will explore the potential of open‑source software to address real‑world challenges and collaborate with product management, customers, software and hardware engineering teams, quality assurance, and operations within a rapidly expanding team. Additionally, you will gain exposure to state‑of‑the‑art AI/ML models in diverse fields, including AI engineering, Large Language Models, and Agentic AI workflows.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with engineering managers, software developers, and product managers to drive the planning and execution of multiple dynamic software development projects
  • Define, plan, and execute projects and program plans based on management guidance and senior technical mentorship
  • Assess the technical feasibility of new products by clarifying and analyzing requirements with software/hardware architects, technical leads, and engineers
  • Develop program schedules, considering various software stack components and hardware/firmware dependencies, and build staffing plans to support the timeline
  • Participate in creating project plans and schedules; develop and improve processes for tracking projects and risk mitigation
  • Deliver on all assigned program commitments from inception through execution within schedule, budget, and scope
  • Act as a critical liaison between R&D and other partners for successful project execution
  • Own resource tracking, status reporting, and issue communication to key partners, including senior executives and customers
  • Prepare and deliver project status updates and reviews to internal stakeholders
  • Investigate technical aspects of the program and drive details within firmware, compiler, runtime, tools, and application development teams
  • Lead across cross‑functional teams, including business units, engineering organizations, and finance/operations
  • Collaborate closely with engineering counterparts across global sites to plan and align operational efficiencies
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Industry experience in project management
  • Excellent presentation and leadership skills, able to lead technical discussions
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience leading complex, interrelated projects, programs, and functions
  • Outstanding team player, dedicated to meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced, multitasking environment
  • Customer‑facing experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with managing Linux and Windows‑based products is beneficial
  • Proficiency in tools like JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, and MS Office
  • Experience delivering software for new hardware products such as accelerators and GPUs is advantageous
  • Experience with AI/ML and Generative AI is required
  • Familiarity with open‑source development and GitHub
  • Experience with virtualization frameworks (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Software development & deployment experience
