We are seeking an experienced professional to lead a team within our Government Consulting practice, providing accounting and advisory services to public sector organizations. This role involves managing client engagements, ensuring compliance with government regulations and standards, and guiding a team of consultants and accountants to deliver high-impact solutions. You will also play a key role in business development and shaping the strategic direction of the practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee complex consulting engagements with government entities, focusing on financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to public sector clients, offering guidance on accounting standards (e.g., GASB), internal controls, and process improvements.
  • Manage relationships with local, state, and federal government agencies, maintaining strong communication and service delivery.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support the professional development of consultants and accounting staff.
  • Collaborate with leaders across service areas to deliver integrated solutions and contribute to firm-wide initiatives.
  • Stay current on policy changes, emerging issues, and best practices relevant to government accounting and finance.
  • Uphold the organization’s values through leadership, accountability, and dedication to public service.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Monitor staff performance to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Provide coaching and training for team members at all levels, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Participate in performance evaluations and career development planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline required.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in public accounting or within a government finance function.
  • Strong understanding of government accounting principles, including familiarity with GASB and other applicable standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) required.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., Caseware) preferred.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, Workday, Munis, or Incode is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to lead projects, manage competing priorities, and deliver value in a government or consulting environment.
