Job Summary |
Delivers a variety of technical procedures for the application of prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. Is responsible for safety, patient care, quality management, and inventory control for the Mammography area. The Senior Mammography Technologist performs mammograms and assists Radiologists with localizations and biopsies. |
Minimum Qualifications | ||
Education | Completion of two years of formal radiologic technology training in a school approved by the Council of Education of the American Medical Association. Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university preferred. | |
Licensure/ Certification | · Registration as a Mammography Technologist required. · ARRT certification and registration required. · BLS certification required. | |
Experience | · Five years experience as a Registered Mammography Technologist required. · Two years experience as a Registered Diagnostic Technologist required. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | · In depth knowledge of Radiology procedures, supplies, and equipment for the production and processing radiographs. · Considerable knowledge of Breast Imaging procedures and protocols. · In depth knowledge of human anatomy and technical factors for obtaining radiographs with minimal retakes. · Ability to work at a pace and demonstrate organizational skills as to ensure no backlogs of work or undue delays in patient flow. · Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. · Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities, e.g., maturity, job knowledge, professionalism, communication skills, etc. to lead, guide and motivate others. · Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. · Proficient with MS Office and EPIC, and able to learn new software rapidly. · Ability to stand and walk for duration of shift. | |
