Simon Property Group is seeking a Maintenance Worker at Woodfield Mall to handle preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems. Primary Purpose

This position is accountable for contributing to the maintenance of the center by troubleshooting repairs and performing preventive maintenance relative to the mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing systems and physical structural elements and by coordinating the work of other maintenance personnel. The position is also accountable for the cleanliness of the center common area, parking lot, common sidewalks and service bays.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Routinely inspects the facility, troubleshoots and makes repairs to the mechanical, electrical, air conditioning, and plumbing systems, as well as any structural elements on the property.
  • Performs a variety of maintenance/minor repair activities on interior and exterior areas of the property, including painting, drywall, structural elements, parking lot and sidewalks, plumbing repairs, drain stoppage clearance, interior and exterior lighting (lamp, fuse and ballast replacement).
  • Operates a variety of equipment to perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs and maintain cleanliness of the property.
  • Assists other departments (e.g., Marketing) to set up events and works with Local Leasing on placement and repair of carts.
  • Performs work in accordance with all applicable standards, policies and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA standards) to promote a safe working environment.
  • Schedules and performs preventive maintenance programs as assigned by management.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory systems, records, files, material safety data sheets, supplies, equipment and tools.
  • Performs regular inspections of air handling units, tightening or replacing belts, replacing filters and greasing components.
  • Maintains logs to document activity.
  • Performs exterior custodial duties as needed, including sweeping sidewalks, wet mopping sidewalks, operating steam cleaner, operating hand vacuum, gathering trash, emptying trash receptacles, operating compactor and turning trash carts.
  • Supervises maintenance staff by assigning duties and projects, overseeing and inspecting maintenance work to ensure proper completion and providing guidance and assistance to various maintenance personnel.
  • May perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Technical School certifications and/or training preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years building maintenance experience performing carpentry, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and comprehend instructions.
  • Ability to effectively present information to departmental management, employees, tenants, and outside contacts.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect information and establish facts.
  • Experience in painting, electrical, plumbing, and drywall skills.
  • Self‑starter with ability to work independently.
  • Capability to diagnose problems on equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of safety rules, hazards and application of accident prevention measures.
  • Ability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Basic knowledge of fire protection hydraulic system and fire protection alarm systems.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Salary Range: $28.64 - $43.92 per hour (actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon various factors, including an individual's skills, experience and qualifications, and the geographic location of the job. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at the top end of the pay range.)
