Job summary

Equity Residential in Washington, DC is seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician to address resident service requests and perform hands-on maintenance across plumbing, electrical, appliance, and HVAC tasks. You will prepare market-ready apartments and help maintain community grounds, while supporting on-call responsibilities as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent), a valid driver’s license, and strong communication in English.

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance experience in plumbing, electrical, appliance and HVAC.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record and reliable transportation.
• Computer literacy and ability to communicate in English.
• Knowledge of federal and state apartment housing laws.
• Flexibility to work weekends and varied shifts.
• EPA 608 Type I/II or Universal certification within 90 days if required.
• Ability to respond to emergencies after hours and on weekends.

Responsibilities

• Promptly address resident service requests and perform maintenance tasks.
• Carry out plumbing, electrical, appliance and HVAC work as needed.
• Prepare market-ready apartments and maintain community grounds.
• Conduct regular property inspections and identify repairs or replacements.
• Assume supervisory duties in the Service Manager's absence.
