Job description

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Maintenance Technician to join our team in Georgetown, Guyana. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the functionality and safety of our facilities and equipment. This role involves performing a wide range of maintenance tasks, including but not limited to basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs. The Maintenance Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • General Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on buildings, grounds, and equipment, including painting, minor carpentry, and general repairs.
  • Basic Electrical Maintenance: Conduct basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs, such as replacing light bulbs and fixtures, checking outlets, and addressing minor electrical issues under supervision or following established procedures.
  • Basic Plumbing Maintenance: Perform basic plumbing repairs, such as fixing minor leaks, unclogging drains, and maintaining fixtures.
  • HVAC System Support: Assist with basic maintenance tasks related to HVAC systems, such as changing filters and reporting issues to specialized technicians.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on various equipment, identifying and reporting any malfunctions or potential issues.
  • Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections of facilities and equipment, identifying and addressing potential hazards.
  • Work Order Management: Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner, documenting all work performed and materials used.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, notifying supervisors when supplies need to be replenished.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance staff, facilities personnel, and external contractors as needed.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to maintenance emergencies and provide initial troubleshooting and repairs as required.
  • Groundskeeping (as needed): Assist with basic grounds keeping tasks such as landscaping, cleaning outdoor areas, and ensuring the property is well‑maintained.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and relevant regulations.
  • All other relevant duties assigned
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including indoors and outdoors.
Working Conditions
  • Work may involve exposure to various environmental conditions and occasional noise. Proper safety equipment and training will be provided.
  • This position may require occasional after‑hours or weekend work to respond to emergencies or complete critical tasks.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Technical training or certification in a maintenance‑related field (e.g., general maintenance, basic electrical, basic plumbing) is an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably in commercial or industrial settings.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repair techniques.
  • Ability to use common hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and others.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform required tasks.
