Job summary

Helion is seeking an on-site Maintenance Technician in Everett, WA to maintain production equipment used to build high-voltage capacitors and modules for our fusion reactor systems. You will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and improve equipment readiness.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Technical Maintenance, the role may require multi-shift coverage as operations grow toward 24/7.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or apprenticeship may substitute for some experience.
• Electro‑mechanical troubleshooting capability with depth in electrical or mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair automated and industrial production equipment, including high-voltage test systems and related machinery.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and basic controls issues using schematics, manuals, and maintenance history.
• Document maintenance activity in CMMS and support return-to-service checks and uptime improvements.
• Work assigned schedules (day, swing, night, overtime, weekends, on-call) as operations evolve.

What You Will Be Doing

In this role, you will maintain production equipment used to build high-voltage capacitors and integrated modules for Helion’s fusion reactor systems. You will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, restore equipment safely, and improve equipment readiness.

This is an onsite role in Everett, WA reporting to the Supervisor of Technical Maintenance, and may require schedule flexibility as operations grow toward multi-shift and eventual 24/7 coverage.

You Will

• Maintain and repair automated and industrial production equipment, including high-voltage test systems, laser welding equipment, soldering equipment, material handling equipment, pumps, presses, conveyors, and related systems.
• Work safely around industrial hazards including high voltage, stored energy, pressurized systems, lasers, and robotic equipment using established safety controls such as LOTO and electrical safe work practices.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and basic controls issues using schematics, manuals, OEM documentation, maintenance history, and structured escalation.
• Install, replace, and repair common electrical and mechanical components such as sensors, relays, contactors, motors, bearings, belts, gearboxes, pumps, valves, and seals.
• Document work in a CMMS or similar maintenance system, including labor, failures, repairs, parts, and equipment history.
• Support emergency repairs and reliability improvement by identifying failure modes, needed tools and spares, return-to-service checks, and opportunities to improve PM quality, uptime, MTTR, and equipment readiness.
• Other duties as required.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of relevant hands‑on technical maintenance experience. Relevant backgrounds may include industrial or manufacturing maintenance, equipment service, military maintenance, aviation, automotive diagnostics, field service, or machine building.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree, apprenticeship, military technical training, or formal controls training may be considered in place of some direct experience.
• Electro‑mechanical troubleshooting capability, with depth in either electrical or mechanical systems and safe working ability across both.
• Ability to troubleshoot industrial electrical and mechanical systems such as 480V equipment, motors, drives, sensors, power distribution, safety circuits, bearings, belts, gearboxes, pumps, valves, pneumatics, hydraulics, tooling, and mechanical assemblies.
• Ability to perform basic controls troubleshooting, including fault codes, sensor and actuator checks, field device replacement, and escalation of programming, logic, robot, HMI, or drive configuration issues.
• Ability to read and use schematics, manuals, OEM documentation, work instructions, and maintenance records to troubleshoot equipment.
• Ability to document maintenance activity in a CMMS or similar work order system and support critical equipment issues in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work assigned schedules as operations evolve, including day, swing, night, rotating, overtime, weekend, or on‑call coverage as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 49 pounds unassisted, stand and walk during shifts up to 12 hours, and regularly bend, lift, stretch, and reach below the waist and above the head.
