Job summary

Rangen, LLC is seeking a Sr. Mechanic Technician to join our maintenance team in Idaho. This role focuses on installing, aligning, and repairing industrial machinery to keep plant operations running smoothly, with overtime possible.

The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Two positions are available, with shifts that may require overtime.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or related fields.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, electrical systems, motors, pumps, bearings, and conveyors.

Responsibilities

  • Install, align, and assemble feed production equipment (mixers, pellet mills, grinders, extruders, conveyors).
  • Use precision tools to ensure proper alignment and balance.
  • Set up new or rebuilt machinery per drawings and specs.
  • Perform routine PMs to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect belts, bearings, chains, gearboxes and drive systems.
  • Maintain maintenance records and update CMMS work orders.

Job Description
Position Summary

Rangen, LLC has an immediate opening for a skilled and safety-conscious Sr. Mechanic Technician to join our maintenance team. This individual will be responsible for installing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing industrial machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, precision alignment experience, and a commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.

There are two positions available. Candidates must be able to work overtime.

  • Monday through Friday: 6:30 am to 3:30 pm
  • Tuesday through Saturday shift: 3:00 pm to 12:00 am.
A Sample of What You’ll Do in this Role
  • Install, align, and assemble feed production equipment, including mixers, pellet mills, grinders, extruders, and conveyors.
  • Use precision tools (levels, laser alignment, dial indicators) to ensure proper alignment and balance.
  • Set up new or rebuilt machinery following technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) on mechanical systems to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Inspect belts, bearings, chains, gearboxes, and drive systems for wear or damage.
  • Lubricate, adjust, and replace worn components to keep systems operating efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update work orders in the plant’s CMMS system (if applicable).
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical failures on feed mill equipment such as elevators, augers, and pellet presses.
  • Identify root causes of breakdowns and recommend long‑term corrective actions.
  • Work closely with operators and electricians to resolve mechanical and electrical issues affecting production.
  • Fabricate or modify equipment parts using welding, cutting, and machining tools.
  • Assist in the design and improvement of production systems to enhance throughput or safety.
  • Install guards, supports, and brackets as needed to ensure equipment integrity and OSHA compliance.
  • Work directly with contractors to ensure 3rd party work is completed safely and meets quality specifications
  • Assist safety and quality teams when needed to ensure compliance with regulatory rules and regulations
  • Serve as member of Food Safety Team; ensure compliance with all Food Safety Guidelines, FDA and OSHA guidelines, as well as Federal and State laws governing the workplace.

Requirements
What You Bring to the Role
  • At least 5 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or other related fields; Technical Degree in a pertinent field a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, electrical systems/control circuits, motors, pumps, bearings, and conveyors
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Diagnostic and repair skills using hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments
  • Understanding of lockout/tagout (LOTO) and other safety protocols
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing environments or other manufacturing experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft computer products
  • Ability to lift to 55 lbs.
  • Comfortable working at heights, including climbing ladders and stairs
  • Comfortable working in narrow and confined spaces, with no claustrophobia
  • Experience with many facets of industrial operations, including welding, electrical, bearings, chains, shafts, belts, electric motors, etc.
  • Mechanical knowledge of processing equipment such as mixers, screw conveyers, hammer mills, grain legs a plus
