Qualifications

  • Knowledge of highway maintenance operations, including planning, budgeting, and staff development.
  • Experience supervising employees and coordinating daily maintenance operations.
  • Working knowledge of policies, procedures, personnel practices, and labor agreements.
  • Experience coordinating multiple maintenance activities and operational plans.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Area 2 maintenance operations planning, direction, and oversight for safe, cost-efficient upkeep of the state highway system.
  • Plan and coordinate emergency preparedness and response for severe weather, disasters, and incidents.
  • Manage long- and short-term programs, budgets, capital investments, fleet needs, and funding requests.
  • Oversee environmental compliance, office operations, and administrative functions.
  • Develop and administer contracts for maintenance and preservation projects; procure asphalt and aggregates, equipment, and services.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, partner agencies, and the public to coordinate activities and support construction projects.
  • Monitor performance, expenditures, safety metrics, and public concerns; implement improvements.
  • Supervise staff through coaching, mentoring, and training to maintain safety and inclusion.
